Chaol was 5 minutes late. Celaena tapped her foot impatiently as he ran down the hallway to meet her.

"Sorry," he said sheepishly, "I got held up, Captain business"

"I can see that," said Celaena irritably, "Let's go!"

They entered Celaena's rooms and Chaol furrowed his brow: "Why are we going in here? There are no exits here."

How wrong he was.

Celaena knew she was taking a great risk showing Chaol the secret passage but then she always took great risks. She careful folded back the tapestry and grinned at Chaol's dismayed look as he looked down the dark passage.

"How long have you know about this!!" He fumed.

"A few months..." Said Celaena.

"But why didn't you leave?" Asked Chaol quietly.

"Because there are people in this castle that I care about more than freedom."

The assassin and the captain walked through the small passage that lead to the exit that Celaena had found a few months before. Chaol walking behind Celaena, with his hand on his sword and his eyes watchful and Celaena thought slightly panicked. The river rushed next to them and the moonlight reflected of the surface of the water, revealing a long line of ships harboured in Rifthold.

The pair crept waded through the murky water and nimbly climbed the harbour wall, Celaena more nimbly than Chaol as his sword slowed him down. Celaena scowled.

"What?" Asked Chaol.

"When are you going to get proper weapons?" She said, gesturing to his sword. Chaol shot her an annoyed look but didn't retort. Celaena guessed he couldn't think of anything to say which made her grin. Daggers and so much better than swords.

Celaena and Chaol through the streets with such grace and stealth that Chaol was being to understand how talented Celaena really was. He had always thought that being and assassin was a simple matter; not easy, but simple. In Chaol's mind, if you could kill with out any emotion and you liked to kill for money, bingo- your an assassin. They passed shop after shop, warehouse after warehouse and house after house until Chaol started to wonder where they were actually going, however when he asked Celaena didn't answer. Touchy subject, he guessed.

Celaena ducked into an alleyway and stopped at a door in the side of a warehouse. She produced a key from her pocket and opened the door to show a beautifully decorated apartment.

"Welcome to my home" Said Celaena flatly.
