Chpt 17: another newbie?!

Anna's POV

I rolled over and my phone kept buzzing. It was Kelly calling. I saw Luke next to me as his eyes fluttered open. "Shut the damn phone off" he said. "Its kelly, now be quiet Lucas" I said as he rolled his eyes. it was Monday and it was 7:30am. It had to be serious. "Hello" I said answering. "God Anna! what took you so long, I've been calling for hours! I have news!" Kelly said. "What?!?" I asked as I sat up letting my feet dangle. "We have another newbie! she is going to be working in your cubical. her name is Elena. she's very pretty. going into the same field as you! I want you to swing by today with Calum to meet her" Kelly said. I sighed and breathed in. "Why Calum?" I asked. "He offered to meet her, he'll he here in an hour. Said you'd love to help me out so see you then!" she said hanging the phone up. I groaned and slowly made myself get up. Luke sat up and watched my dress. "Where ya going darling?" he asked. "Kelly needs me" I said throwing clothes around. I grabbed a black blazer and a stripped crop top. I slid on high waisted jeans. I grabbed my slip on flats and then looked for a hat. I grabbed a black beanie and then put it over my mess of hair. I grabbed my keys and kissed Luke. "Phone?" he said holding it up. I smiled and he slid it in my back pocket. "See you in a few" I said kissing him one last time. I drove to the nearest 7/11 and grabbed me a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun. I pulled up to the building. There were only 5-6 cars there. Mostly janitors but then I saw Calum's car. it was a green jeep with mud all over it. I rolled my eyes and closed my car door. I walked past Kelly's black mustang. I saw a blue car and I had to admit I was jealous. I headed to the building and saw Calum smirking in his black ripped skinny jeans. "Annabella, how nice of you to come" he said. "You owe me, I would still be sleeping if it weren't for you" I said. "You have cinnamon glaze on your mouth" he said. "Shit" I said wiping it off. "Here" Calum said as he took his thumb to the corner of my mouth. he gently wiped away the glaze and his fingers lingered on the corner of my mouth. I herd a door shut and then I saw Elena. she was extremely pretty. she had long brownish blackish hair. she was wearing shorts with a flannel tied around them. She had dark brown eyes and a beautiful smile. I looked at Calum. his mouth hung open. "Shut your mouth, you'll catch flys" I said patting his shoulder. I headed towards Elena and he grabbed my elbow jerking me back. "You have to set me up" he said. "What about Blaire" I said smirking. "She and Michael have been hooking up 24/7" he said. my heart skipped a beat for a second. she was sleeping around with Mikey, wait why do I care? I have an amazing boyfriend. "You owe me double if I do set you up" I said turning around. I smiled walking towards Elena. "I'm Annabella, but my friends call me Anna" I said smiling. "Hi, I'm Elena which you probably know" she said smiling. "Hi! I'm Calum, and may I say I love your shirt" he said kissing her hand. she laughed and looked at me. "He's a joker, but extremely nice. Calum why don't you lead the way" I said smiling. he nodded walking forward and started babbling. "He's cute" Elena said. "He's one of the cute nice guys. If you want I can get you a date with him" I said. "Oh I don't-" "It's the least I can do. I'll show you the ropes around here. plus I'm sure the feeling is mutual" I said raising a brow jokingly. "Really?!? I mean I never have really had a true boyfriend. most of them were assholes or jerks" she said. "You won't be disappointed, he's really nice" I said smiling. Elena smiled back and we headed down the hallway. Calum was babbling on about how the architectural integrity of the building was amazing and she just laughed. I knew I was going to get on with her real well. She was just like Blaire but much nicer much easier to talk to. Calum press the button on the elevator and we waited for the doors open. Elena smiled at him and he smirked back at her. "So what did you before you came here" he asks. "Oh I didn't really do much just waitressing here and there and trying to make a living but on the job that I've always wanted" she said replying. he smiled and we road up. "Beautiful view, the skyline is really beautiful and you can see everything from floor 48. Luckily you'll the only working in my office with me, Cal, Michael, Luke, Ash and Blaire. there's is on the other people who are in the same area that you're working in but it turns out you'll be following me around for a while just till your use to thing. It's amazing that your so sweet and nice. I'd hate to have a mean rude employee" I said. "When do I start" Elena asked. "We are open Tuesday thru Friday, and on Sundays. but since you work in the same field as me you only work Tuesday thru Friday and sometimes Sundays" I said. "How much is the pay" Elena asked. "700" I said. "A month?" Elena asked. "No silly, weekly" I said. she widened her eyes. "Save up and you can get some pretty nice stuff" Calum said. "And the company gives you $1000 to go get new clothes or just shop for office stuff. Mainly it's for girls but sometimes boys occasionally get it. what do you say May I'll take you downtown and we'll get clothes" I said. "I'd say of corse" she said. "Alrighty, Calum lock up" I said tossing him the keys. "I love the blue car, that's yours I take it?" I asked. "I don't have a car, I took the bus" Elena said. "I can give you rides if you need them, till you get a car" I said walking towards mine. "This is yours?!?" she asked. "Of corse! It's not the cleanest but oh well" I said unlocking it. "You have a red covetable, this is awesome" Elena said. "Thanks, now let's get you some clothes" I said climbing in. she nodded and sat down. "So what made you choose this job?" I asked as I pulled out. I honked at Calum as he climbed into his jeep. "I'd always dreamed of having a job where I get to voice my opinion. being a waitress was not fun. literally taking orders and dealing with rude people, not fun" Elena said. "Let's start here" I said pulling up to the mighty mall. Elena pushed her sunglasses up. "I take it you lived in a small town" I asked. "Very small" she said. "Well, I love fashion and that's the new job, so let's go have fun!" I said grabbing my purse from the back. "How do I pay-" "I have the card right here in my bag, don't worry Elena! you can trust me" I said as we headed in. We hit every story possible and then got Starbucks. "Shit, I think I literally shopped till I dropped" she said. "Well now we relax, mani and pedis on me" I said. "Anna I appreciate everything you've done, I can pay-" "On me, it's nice to finally have someone who doesn't nag me all the time" I said as we headed towards the car. "Plus, you want to look amazing on your date with Calum" I said. "Date? what date" she asked. "Why do you think I made you get the dresses!" I said. "I didn't get any-" "I'm kidding! you can wear whatever you'd like. I need to set up a date first" I said. "You'd do that for me" Elena asked. "Of corse El. were friends now, we do that for each other" I said. she laughed a little. "Ok An" she said laughing. my heart stopped. an, Michael called me that. "Anna did I do something?" Elena asked. "No no, I just had a break up with a guy who used to call me An. still a little hard" I asked. "I'm sorry" Elena said. "Don't be, you didn't know. now, let's go relax!" I said. we sat in the salon chairs and I really got to know Elena. she was extremely bubbly and nice. Blaire would always push me around and I hated it. Elena is different. "So tell me about the other people in our office" she said. "Well" I said licking my lips and sighing.

Calum's POV

Elena. She was so damn beautiful. she's been on my mind for the last hour. the way her long hair flows down her back so effortlessly. When she smiles, how her eyes squint a little. how her eyes are so intriguing. the way her head tilts when she laughs. when she bites her lip when she's nervous. everything. I'd only known her an hour and I already am thinking about her. I'm glad Anna came today and took Elena under her wing. I smiled to myself as Blaire entered the room with Michael. "What's got you all smiley" Michael asked. "Nothing" I said. "There's a girl! was she the newbie? how'd it go? tell me everything" Blaire said. "Her names Elena. she has long brownish blackish hair and brown eyes, and her smile. god don't get me started on it. it's like a thousand angles came together to make her smile glow. she is so pretty. her and Anna went shopping today. were getting nails done and buying clothes. they got on real well. I think they'll be best friends soon if not already. Anna took her under her wing. but gosh. Michael I've never seen anyone quiet like her. she's different from all the other girls she's-" "What do you mean 'if not already' " Blaire said interrupting me. "I can't explain Michael" I said. "Lover boy, focus. what do you mean 'if not already' " Blaire snapped. "They already were talking about hanging out when they headed out. check twitter if you want" I said. Blaire whipped her phone out and scrolled on her phone. she dropped her phone and screamed. she stormed off and Michael picked up the phone. "Shit Calum, we have a problem" Michael said. "What" I asked looking at her phone. I saw a photo from Anna's twitter. 'With this crazy bitch! newbie at work and newbiesty! love this girl!' Anna had official replaced Blaire with Elena and I knew this wouldn't end well. this was the start of a war.
