Chpt 48: Keep breathing

Blaire's POV

Anna drove the car and her hands were held tightly to the steering wheel. Calum was taken away in an ambulance. Anna hasn't said anything to me since I called for help. she cracked her knuckles against the steering wheel and held it tight. "Anna he'll be fine" I said. "Its all my fault" she said as she turned on her signal. she turned the corner and then parked the car. she shut it off and took the key out. "fuck" she said hitting the wheel with her fists. "Anna it wasn't your fault" I said. "If I hadn't left then none of this would've happened. I need to make some phone calls. go find Calum" she said. I got out and walked into the hospital. I looked around. everyone had sympathetic looks on their faces. I walked to the front desk and asked for Calum Hood's room. she gave it to me and I took the elevator up. I walked to room 148. Calum was in there and he was sleeping. I pulled a chair up and took his hand in mine. "I'm here babe. if you can do something, anything, even a squeeze on my hand, I need to know your here" I said wiping a tear. I felt a small squeeze and Calum's heart rate spiked for a second. The doctor came in and sighed. "He knows I'm here" I said looking at him. "that's good" he said. "What's wrong with him" I asked. "It seems the bullet hit more of a certain Area. it hit right in the lower back which caused the spinal cord to go into shock. it send nerves to his brain and he may not remember anything. it's hard to say at this point. he went into surgery and we removed the bullet well he was in the ambulance. he is resting and should wake soon" the doctor said. I nodded and he left. tears streamed down my face. "Don't cry" Calum mumbled. "Cal?!? your awake" I asked. "I've been up, my eyes are just closed" he said smirking. "I thought I'd lost you" I said. he opened and eye. "Come closer" he said. I scooted closer. he grunted as he leaned forward. "Calum don't put stress on-" "Shush, don't cry" he said wiping my tears. he laid back down and held my hand in his. "Anna keeps blaming herself for this" I said. "Anna shouldn't. I shouldn't have let me guard down. she was trying to help everyone" Calum said. Anna came in and stood quietly. "Come here" cal said. Michael came in behind her along with Ashton. we all sat there. nobody said a word. We sat there. Michael cleared his throat. "Anna can we talk" he asked. "Later" she barked at him. I smacked her slightly and gave her a glare. "Please" Michael said. "Talk" she said crossing her arms. "Alone" he said as I saw his hands clench. "Anna go with him" I said. "I'm not g-" "Now" I gritted through my teeth. she stood up and walked out. Michael followed her. "Can you make sure they don't kill each other" I asked Ash. he smiled and left. I held Cal's hand. "I'm going to be ok B, don't worry" he said. I rubbed my hand over his. "Keep breathing" I said holding in tears. "I love you so much B, so so much" he smiled and then it faded. his heart monitor went dead. there was a siren and nurses came running in. a male nurse grabbed my arm and removed me from the room. "Calum?!?!" I yelled as I was brought down the hall. nurses from all directions came running. "Calum!" I yelled as I fought back. "CALUM PLEASE" I screamed as tears ran down my face. Ash came running around the corner. Anna and Michael followed. "what's going on? he's going to be ok right? Somebody tell me anything! something! Hello" I said. Ash took me and held my head to his chest. I sobbed and then looked at Anna. "Where's Michael?" I asked. "He's over there" she said pointing. Ashton let me go and Anna put her arms out. "They won't tell me anything" I cried. "Shh, he's going to be ok" she said. I went to pull back and she held my head to her chest. "Anna what is it?" I asked looking up. her mouth dropped and I turned around. Calum was wheeled out on a small bed. a black bag was halfway up his body. "CALUM NO" I screamed and ran. Anna grabbed my hips and I yelled and struggled. "Blaire, you need to calm down" Anna said. "Calum" I cried as I felt my legs give. Anna eased me down to the floor and held me. Ashton walked down the hall and talked to the nurses. he came back with tears in his eyes. Anna helped me up. "He's going to be ok, his heart rate just spiked, his skin is ice cold which is why that black thing was over him halfway. it's a heating blanket Blaire, not a bag. You are over tired and haven't gotten any rest. Blaire you need sleep, they have the best doctors here, they'll take good care of him" Ashton said. "I'm not leaving" I said. "Then at least rest Blaire, if he is able to see anybody I'll wake you up" Anna said. I nodded and she sat down in the waiting area with me. I laid my head on her shoulder and Ashton sat down on the couch. I got up and walked over to the couch. he put his arm out and I cuddled next to him and closed my eyes. "He'll be ok, I promise" he said as I closed my eyes.

Anna's POV

I sat tapping my leg. Blaire was in a coma and it was my fault. Calum sat next to me. "Anna speak to me I need to know your there" Calum said. "Its my fault Calum, you shouldn't have gotten me, I would've gotten out somehow" I said running a hand through my hair. "Don't beat yourself up, we got help when we did, that's a good thing. the injuries are minor, Anna you have to trust them" cal said taking his hand in mine. "If they were minor, why is she in a coma Calum?" I asked. "I don't know, but what I do know is that she'll fight Anna. Blaire won't give up easily. we have to have faith, she's a fighter" Calum said.
