Chpt 55: the winter takes it all

Calum's POV

I needed Blaire right now more than anything. I don't know what she does that makes me feel how I do. her small little body curled next to mine keeping me warm. how her fingers never left mine. she was sound asleep. the nurse came in and smiled. it was Elena. "How are you feeling?" she asked. "I'm beyond pissed at you, you practically killed the only thing that's kept me stable, but other than that, I feel fine" I said. Elena looked down. "Can we talk about that?" she asked. I nodded and held my hand towards the chair. she sat down and stared at the ground. "Elena tell me what's on your mind, I can tell yo-" "I have a kid Calum" she said. my eyes widened, she had lied to all of us. she didn't kill the kid. "Calum?" she said. "Does ash-" "Let me talk, i'll explain everything" she said. i nodded and she sighed. "I had the kid, and then when I held him in my arms, and saw the way he looked at me, I couldn't give him up. I kept him a secret because I didn't want Ashton to know. he was going to be my kid. I was sleeping around because that's how I earned money. I hire a babysitter and she watches him well I'm working both my jobs. Luke's been hel-" "Luke?!? you mean the one that raped-" "Calum he's different now. he has a heart and he cares about things. he has been giving me money as long as I reward him. Jessie loves Luke. he's really become a father figure to Jessie and then Jessie went into the hospital. he has a birth defect, that's my fault. I didn't know I was pregnant so I drank and smoked and all that stuff. he has bad speech and a small defect on his brain. Ashton's been spending time with Jessie. he likes Ashton a lot and Ashton's started to watch him more. I wanted your attention so I tried to ride Blaire, which I had no right to do and I am so sorry. I never meant to hurt or kill anybody. I didn't think I shut the tank off, just turned down the supplies. can you please forgive me?" she said. "Elena what you did was sick and cruel, I will never ever forgive you. and I'm positive Blaire won't either. just leave" I said. elena had tears in her eyes. "Cal-" "Leave" I said. "Ok, goodbye Calum" she said as she stood up and left.

Elena's POV

Calum was completely right. nobody deserves to forgive me. Jessie should be with Ashton. he can care for him. I walked to my car and drove home. Jessie was with Ashton at the moment. He was watching him. I grabbed a pad of paper and a pen. I began to write a note. I finished it and wiped away tears. I am leaving Jessie with Ashton's care. I walked to the kitchen and looked up at the hook. I grabbed a chair and a rope. I tied a knot in the rope and tied another so it fit around my neck. a tear rolled down my cheek and I pulled my phone out. I took off the lock code and then texted Blaire.

'I'm so sorry Blaire' I hit send. a second later she replied.

'Fuck you' she said. I closed my eyes and texted Anna.

'Anna I'm sorry' I said.

'Sorry for what' she asked.

'Everything, I've torn your friendships apart and I can't bare the fact that everyone hates me. tell Calum that I really meant what I said' I scrolled to a song. it was the song that first played when Calum and I met. it was called 'Chasing Cars' by the snow patrol. I hit play and then Anna texted back.

'Why don't you tell him?'

'Because' I hit send.

'I don't plan on seeing him again, he made it clear that he doesn't want me to mess with him or Blaire. and I've only ruined your life so I am doing what everyone wants'

I hit send and then stood on the chair. I hooked my head in through the loop and my phone kept buzzing. I saw the texts.

'Elena what do you mean'

'Elena?'

'Answer me!'

'Hello?'
