Jay's POV
I wake up freezing, I pull my hands into my sleeve and glance around. It was quiet except for Lewis' breathing, creating a smoke like effect from his nose. It was dark as well, hard to see anything. I shiver, pulling myself closer to Lewis. He groaned a bit and I flinched,
"God it's cold.." he whispers. I nod and look at him. He pulls me closer and stares back at me. Maybe it was the fact that I was freezing— or maybe I was being stupid. But I kissed him. His lips were warm, sending shivers down my spine. He kissed back, which was shocking. We never talked in school, just made awkward eye contact. He rested his hands on my cheeks, they were warm. His gloves were soft against my cheeks, I put my hands over his and softly pulled away a bit.
"That warmed me up" he grinned, chucking.
I roll my eyes a bit. He softly kisses my jaw, I tense and let out a disapproving whine. So he kisses my lips again, I kiss back. We do this for a while, until we hear a thump. He pulls away and peaks over the counter, he immediately shoots back down and kisses my forehead.
"What?" I whisper, nervous.
"A zombie" he says, digging through his bag.
"You can't shoot it!" I whisper-yell, he looks at me.
"Why?!". I tense at his yelling, than stand up and run into the back room. There was an axe behind glass, for 'safety'. On the glass was a white sticker with the words
'USE FOR EMERGENCY'
Printed on it. I elbow the glass and shatter it, grabbing the axe. I clutch it and walk out, opening the door and walking outside. The air just as cold outside. The 'zombie' turned and looked at me, one eye missing and the other surrounded by blood. His jaw slacked open, blood slipping down his chin. His arms dropped beside him and his legs crooked, as if they were both broken. I stare at him a bit, he looked probably 17. I sigh as he begins to shuffle toward me, I raise the axe and slam it down into his skull. I stumble and rip it out, his body falling. I look at my hands, which were covered in blood. Along with my sleeves and chest. I walk back inside and see Lewis standing there, I shut and lock the door. He tightly hugs me, than wipes my face off. Which apparently had blood on it.
"Can we just go back to sleep?" I ask, pushing the image of slaughtering another person away. He nodded and we walked back, laying down beside each other. He holds me close and I snuggle into him. Falling asleep.

Jay's POV
9:30 Am Monday December 2nd

I open my eyes, the cold immediately kicking in. I sit up and slide my hand through my hair,
"Lewis?" I call out, looking at his backpack which was beside me.
"Just looking around" he responds. I stand up and walk over to him, shivering. He kisses my forehead and puts a black hat on me, which he must've found earlier. The memories from last night come flooding in. My family, the kiss, the 'Zombie'. I feel my face getting red thinking about the kiss- I don't even know why I did it. I don't think I like him, I couldn't at this time. I grab his sleeve and tug,
"Can we go soon?" I ask.
"Where?" He asks.
"Anywhere but here. Maybe we'll find others" I say, tugging at his sleeve once more. He nods and leans down for a kiss, I hesitatingly kiss him. He rests his hands on my waist and I tense uncomfortably. I pull away,
"It's not the time.." I mumble. I go and grab our bags. Than my axe.
"Let's go" I say.
