Jay's POV
I wake up slowly, shielding my eyes from the bright sun. I softly shift myself and look up at Kenny. His head was against a part of the tree, and his arms were wrapped tightly around me.
I groan when pain enters my stomach and I sit up slowly, my shirt was drenched in blood, and so was part of Kenny's jacket.
I lift my shirt and see the bandages had slipped and were also covered in blood.
I put my hand over the wound and sharply inhale, my hands were freezing.
It has stopped bleeding but it still scared me,
"Kenny.." I whisper. He shifts and opens his eyes, squinting when he sees the sun.
He sits up a bit more and looks at me, his eyes widen. I shift.
"Are you okay?!" He asks, I nod a bit.
"It started bleeding again I think- it's all over me.. and you.." I say quietly. He glances down at himself and shrugs,
"It's okay, you're more important. Let's climb down and I'll help change the bandages out" he says, cupping my cheeks. I nod and he helps me climb onto his back, where he begins slowly climbing down the tree.
When we get close (a few feet from the ground) he jumps, I tighten my arms around him.
"It's okay" he says, helping me down.
I lean against the tree and he digs in the back pack, grabbing the bandages with shaky hands.
Than he kneels in front of me and starts, I rest my hands on his shoulders, looking up at the sky. When he finishes, he softly kisses me. I kiss back, pulling his head closer so I didn't have to strain my neck.
He pulls away and puts everything away, helping me up.
"I love you" He says, I smile a bit,
"I love you too" I reply.
He grabs my hand and we begin to walk, following something that looked like the start of a trail.~ 5 hours later ~
I was beginning to regret this, we have been walking forever in this stupid forest and we haven't seem anything.
Nothing but trees and dead deer, which were probably killed last night by wandering dead.
I glance at Kenny, he looked tired and nervous. His eyes had heavy dark lines under them, and he was repeatedly biting his lip.
"Kenny.." I whisper, squeezing his hand.
He smiles a bit, looking forward, I follow his gaze and we see what looks like a clearing.
"Finally! Out of these stupid trees, I thought we ne-" I start, but was cut off by yells.
Three guys emerged around us, they were alive people— but they had guns. The first one grabbed me, he had a police uniform on. I tense and try to push him away,
"What're you doing?!" I yell.
The other two guys look at me, one was wearing jeans and a hoodie. The other was wearing a large coat with sweatpants.
They grabbed Kenny, they looked almost the same age as him.
I find myself getting light headed and everything goes slightly muffled.
"She's infected!" Someone yells, I hear a lot noise and I'm out.
