Lewis' POV
10:00 Am Tuesday December 3rdI flip onto my side, pulling Sam closer. I open my eyes and stare at the wall, everything slowly coming back to me. I get up and put my hat back on, rubbing my eyes. I grab my pistol and glance around, carefully making my way to the back room. I open the door and immediately see Tord, he gives me a slight grin.
"Morning" He says, putting his coat on. I glance at Jay, who was lacing her boots.
"Good morning" I say quietly, Jay didn't even look at me. I suddenly recall last night— I had kissed Sam and she had kissed back. I was sure Jay and Tord were asleep but is it possible that Jay saw? Would she be upset? Tord pushes past me and I kneel by Jay, she gives me an anxious glance.
"Everything alright?" I ask.
"I kissed Tord" she says fast, I nod.
"That's okay" I say, hugging her. She hugs back, tightly.
"When we uh.. kissed.. It was kind of.. a .." I try to get out,
"In-the-moment type thing..?" Jay adds. I nod, "exactly.." I mumble. She nods and gets up, grabbing her axe and walking out.~2 hours later~
Jay's POVEveryone gets there stuff together and we head out, all walking together down the empty street. I trailed behind everyone, keeping my head down. Sam and Lewis lead while Tord stayed toward the left of the street. I hummed a few songs and a kicked up snow as we walked, bored.
"Where are we going?" Tord asks, looking at Sam and Lewis.
"There was supposed to be a safe house somewhere up here" Sam says, Tord nodded. I noticed Sam and Lewis were holding hands. They were probably dating. I took a deep breath and stood up straight, why should I care? This is survival. Not lovey-dovey time, you can't get too attached.
"We should go from behind" I say, it coming out more emotion less than wanted.
"What?" Tord asked, everyone stopped and looked at me.
"We should approach the safe house from behind, there are probably zombies surrounding it" I say, walking past them. I turn to a back street.
"That doesn't make sense" Lewis protested,
"There's probably a back door" I say.
"What if there's not" he grabs my arm and spins me around.
"And risk being eaten by zombies? If there's not than we move to the front, unless there are zombies" I say, with a slight growl.
"It'll take longer" he grips my arm,
"It's safer" I growl, tugging away and walking. We walk for about an hour.
We approach the building slowly, nothing was around. We bolt up and bang on the doors.
"Hello?!" Tord yells. I flinch a bit. We do this for a while, until a hand grabs my shoulder. I flinch and spin around, putting my axe up.
"Hey! I'm not infected" someone yells, everyone goes silent and we stare. In front of me stood a tall boy, older than any of us clearly. He had black messy hair, dirt covering his face, blood all over him. He had a metal bat in one hand.
"Oh.. sorry" I mumble, he puts his hand out, and I shake it.
"Im Cameron" he says, smiling. I nod,
"I'm Jay".
"This is Sam, Lewis and Tord" I say, pointing to everyone as I say their names.
"They won't let you in" he says, nodding toward the door.
"Why?!" Lewis snaps, I flinch and Cameron looks at me worriedly.
"They're 'full' " Cameron says, rolling his eyes.
"But there's a place I'm staying nearby" he adds, scratching the back of his head.
"Could we stay for a night or two?" I ask, glancing at everyone.
"As long as you need, it's just me out here. It'll be nice to have guests" he chuckles.
