Jay's POV
I turn the corner and hear a quiet gasp, not from me, from in front of me.
A glimpse of orange caught my eye, but I didn't have time to examine.
A sharp, cold pain hit my gut, I let out a shriek but not much came out, It took the air out of me. I stumble and fall back, while falling, the coldness in the pain receded fast, but the pain only grew stronger.
"Jay!" Sam yells, I squeeze my eyes shut and lean my head back. I heard a gun shot and took a deep shaky breath, groaning.
"Jay! It's Cameron! It's okay!" Cameron yells, I flinch. I could still hear him, does he think I can't? I open my eyes and look at him, than at the tall, slim boy in front of me. He looked shocked. Cameron slowly sat me up and I let out another groan.
"I thought you were a zombie! I'm sorry!" The boy says, kneeling down. I close my eyes and lean my head back against Cameron,
"What happened..?" I whimper.
"Well.. he stabbed you, because he thought he heard a zombie. When you ran into him he just went on impulse and stabbed you.. than I tried to shoot him" Lewis says.
"Is she ganna be okay?!" Sam yells,
"We have to get her somewhere" Saint says, grabbing my hand. I open my eyes and stare at the boy, he looked so familiar— but not at the same time. I cocked my head and stared at him, he just stared back, as if he was thinking the same thing. I hesitatingly put my hand out and grabbed his hoodie, pushing it off of his head. My eyes widened.
"Kenny!" I screech, I yank off my hat and his eyes widen. I watched the surprise enter his face, than leave when more guilt entered.
"Jay!" He says, a tone of both happiness and sadness. Kenny was my cousins friend, kind of- more like my cousins ex-boyfriend. My cousin, Kendra, had dated him for a month. Kenny and I met and instantly became good friends. Than they broke up and I never really smoke to Kenny anymore.
"You know him?" Cameron says, I nod and shift, letting out a grunt.
"Guys, focus" Lewis says, helping me stand up. I stumble forward and Cameron keeps me up, I glance at my hands, which were drenched in my own blood.
"Of course, as soon as someone heals the other gets hurt.." Sam mumbles, I glare at her.
"I've been staying in a shed nearby, we could stay there. I was just going out for food-" Kenny starts, but Lewis interrupts
"That'd be great, we have food to share".
Kenny and Cameron help me walk. the pain, which was bad but not unbearable, receded very slowly. But as it did, I found myself getting light headed. I put my hand over the wound, which was still barely bleeding.
"Be careful" Kenny says, I nod a bit. We walk into a yard, a huge shed lay in the far end.
We enter.
