Jay's POV
~20 Minutes Later~
Me and Cameron get ready, I put on my backpack on and grab my axe. While Cameron and saint switch weapons,
"It'll be safer with a knife" Lewis has said. Lewis has practically become the leader of the group. Always taking charge and swearing up and down to protect us.
Lewis pulls me into a tight hug, and he flinches from it. I hug back carefully.
"Be safe please, I love you" He says, I smile and pull away. He smiles back.
"I'm always safe" I say confidently.
"Until you're not" he says, kissing my forehead. Saint hugs me and ruffles my hair,
"If he does anything tell me" he whispers in my ear. I barely nod. We say goodbye and head outside. The sun was bright and the snow was even brighter, Cameron grabbed my hand and we walked down the street. Watching carefully for any zombies.
Until we get to the gas station, it was big— and destroyed. The gas tanks were all jacked up and some of the hoses were pulled off. There were gun shells on the ground and tire tracks.
We head inside.
When we get in, we glance around. The gas station had a coffee shop area, cold drinks area (which weren't cold anymore) and isles among isles of food (which was mostly destroyed). There are bags of food scattered among the ground.
"Let's split up, if you see something scream for me" He says, I nod and we let go of each other's hand, heading in opposite directions. I open my back pack up and grab some of the crackers off the floor, putting them in my bag. I pace the isles, grabbing more food that I see. A lot of the good stuff was gone— all the waters and granola bars (thank god).
"Hey jay! Come here!" Cameron calls out, making me flinch. I zip my bag up and run over to him, he was standing by a door.
"What's in there?" I ask,
"It's a storage room" he says. I nod,
"I think it needs a key..." I mumble, glancing around. He holds up a key,
"Found it already" He says. I smile, and he chuckles a bit. He opens the door and we both get wide smiles. There were water bottles and other canned foods that were untouched.
We had been living on gross water— that we knew would probably cause difficulties later on- But now we have clean water! We run in and I open my back pack, Cameron begins shoving water bottle after water bottle into it, and I go for the food. After my bag was beyond full, we smile satisfied.
"Thank god" he says, I laugh. I zip up the bag and throw it over my shoulders,
"Too heavy?" He asks, I shake my head.
"No, it's fine" I say, he nods and hugs me. I hug back and rest my head on his shoulder,
"I'm so sorry Jay— for what I did" he whispers. I kiss his head,
"It's okay now" I smile. We both jump when we hear a banging noise. We glance out the door and see zombies, entering the gas station. Cameron pulls the door shut and backs up, I grab his arm tightly.
"We're in trouble.." he whispers.
