Jay's POV
11:30 Am Monday December 2ndI held Lewis' hand and walked with him, scanning the streets. I clenched the axe in my other hand.
"Getting hungry?" He asks, startling me.
"No" I respond, he squeezes my hand and I ignore him.
We walk for a while longer.
"Help!" Someone yells, startling us both. We both dart our heads around the empty streets, until I finally spot someone in a red hoodie. I run over, yanking my hand away from Lewis'.
"Jay, hold on!" He shouts. I kneel down by the guy and cock my head to the side, taking a step back. Half of his face was slightly torn up.
"It wasn't a zombie!" He says, his expression nervous.
"Please don't leave me here- my 'friends' already did" he says. I look down at his shaky hands and back up to his face.
"What happened?" I hear Lewis ask, his hand resting on my shoulder.
"These huge dogs must've got loose from somewhere" he says, looking away a bit. Lewis gave an unbelieving grunt.
"We have to help" I say, tugging on Lewis' sleeve. He sighs,
"Fine, but if he turns I'm shooting him" Lewis scowls. I put my hand out and help the guy up. We walk him into a building, which must've been a tattoo shop. Lewis locks the door and than goes to the opposite side of the room, rummaging through the guys back. I sit the guy down and grab some bandages and pain killers. I give him the medicine and than clean up the rest of the wound with what I had.
"What's your name?" He asks, I wipe the blood off my hands.
"Jay" I respond, looking at his eye. The skin near it was a little torn and the eye was a little red, but it should be okay.
"Mine's Tord" he says, flinching when I touch the wound.
"How many people were you with?" I ask, grabbing the bandages from behind me.
"What?" He says, sitting up a bit more.
"You said you were in a group" I say, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh.. uh.. three, including me.." he sort of mumbles, I nod and cup his good cheek, beginning to put the bandages on. He flinched multiple times. He puts his hand over mine and I feel my face get hot.
"Thanks" He says with a slight smirk, I pull away a bit and nod. Than we hear a scream.
"Hey! Chill!" I hear Lewis yell. I stand up and bolt to him. He was standing in front of a girl-
"SAM?!" I yell. She looks at me,
"JAY?!" She yells back. We hug tightly. She was a friend of mine from school, no, a BEST friend on mine. We had been through hell and back- and I guess we were back in hell together.
"Oh.." Lewis mumbles, he knew Sam too. They had dated in 6th grade. Tord stumbles over and gives Catie and awkward mine.
"This is Tord" I say, pointing to him. She nods,
"I'm Sam" she says. He nods as well. Sam smiles at me.
"You look so different I didn't recognize you" she says, tapping my nose. I smile a bit, and than cock my head.
"I do?".
She sets her bag down on a counter and digs through it, pulling out a small hand held mirror. I look into it. My bangs were sticking out of my hat, my face covered in both blood and dirt. My lips cracked and my eyes darker than usual.
"Oh" I say, touching my lips. She nods. Sam was a lot taller than me, as tall as Lewis. Her hair was pulled into a messy bun, mud on her cheeks and smudged eyeliner. She was wearing a dark blue winter jacket, black fingerless gloves and black leggings. I glance down at myself, I was wearing a black jacket with a fur hood, black cuffed sweatpants and boots.
"You alright?" She asks, I nod.
"Just fine"
