Jay's POV

"We've had quite a few newbies lately" Marshall says, I glance around, seeing no one I recognize. Kenny grabs my hand.
"Yeah?" I say,
Marshall nods.
"This is our first aid place" Marshall says, we nod and stare at the small tent.
"It's were we took you" he adds, poking my shoulder. I glance down at my stomach.
"We thought you were infected, someone wanted to kill you right than and there" Marshall says, starting to walk again. We follow him, and Kenny lets out a growl.
"Why didn't they?" I ask,
"Someone said not to" Marshall shrugs.
"This is our feild, when summer comes around we plan to plant things. We're running low on veggies right now" Marshall sighs, we nod.
"These are the 'houses'" Marshall says, pointing to the campers.
"We all cram in and sleep. You guys have number three— it's where all the newbies are"
Marshall waves his hand around.
"We don't plan on staying long" Kenny says, Marshall looks at me.
I feel like he is looking right through me, knowing everything.
"Are you sure?" Marshall asks,
He knows I want to stay long. How? I don't know— but he knows.
"W-We'll talk it over" I say quietly, Marshall nods a bit and begins walking.
I pull my hand away from Kenny and follow Marshall, he leads us to a group of people.
"Kenny, you'll go hunting with them today" Marshall says. Someone smiles at us in the group, an adult with blonde hair. I smile back.
"Jay will stay and rest" Marshall says, sounding like a rehearsed script.
Kenny goes to protest but sighs, leaning over and kissing my forehead.
He walks away and Marshall spins, walking the opposite direction. I follow.
"He seems a bit old for you" Marshall says, laughing a bit.
"I'm almost fifteen.." I say. He nods and stops me, I stare at him, confused.
"If you want to stay you should stay, even if he doesn't want to" he says, I nod slowly.
"And if he hurts you, you can talk t-" he starts, but I interrupt.
"He doesn't" I say, Marshall sighs and nods.
"Can I help with something?" I ask, changing the conversation.
"Shouldn't you rest? That's what Katy said" Marshall says, nodding toward the third camper. I sigh and whine,
"I want to help" I whine. Marshall chuckles a bit, I glare.
"You can help when you feel better" He says, grabbing my hand.
I hesitate before holding his hand back, he quickly walks to the third camper.
He opens the door, letting go of my hand. I sigh, his hand was warm.
"We've got a new one! And she's hurt, so play nice!" Marshall laughs. I flinch at his words.
'Play nice'.
Marshall pushes me in, and I stumble before looking up. There was a small crowd of people.
A twin girl and boy around my age, an older man, three scary teenagers and-
Tord.
I stare, at everyone, but mainly Tord.
He was staring back, they all were. I stumble forward a bit, and one of the Twins, the girl, grabs my arm.
"Thanks.." I say, quiet.
"Jay?" Tord finally says, a smile spreading across his face.
"How do you know her name?" The older man says. At once, they all begin talking.
But Tord pushes past them and hugs me, I hug back tightly.
"Is everyone else with you?!" Tord asks, snuggling me tight and close. I relax.
"No.. it's just me and Kenny.. he's super nice.." I whisper, Tord cups my cheeks and smiles.
"I'm sorry I left you" he says, I find myself heating up. He gently kisses my forehead and helps me lay down on one of the four beds.
"What happened?" He asks.
