Suddenly Kong's blood pressure dipped second by second and before the nurse or the ward boy could call the doctor, the defibrillator showed flat lines indicating the stopping all vital signs of Kong and his ultimate losing weakening breath. (from the chapter Death)
The doctors were called upon by the nurse in charge into the ICU ward. The doctors immediately rushed in and was horrified by the almost the flat lines on the ECG Monitor which indicated that Kong was dead, brain dead. But one of the doctors did not give up hope and he kept on massaging, pumping and used various machines to revive his heart. But Kong did not respond to any of those therapies and after 10 minutes of integrated efforts by the paramedics, they gave up hope and declared him brain dead.
All the instruments, machines and medical equipment were removed from Kong's body and his body was shrouded with a plain white cloth. Kong slept peacefully on the death bed. His face was serene and calm. For the first time, his nanny had seen him carefree and burden ridden face. Kong slept without any fear or remorse or guilt. He was neither happy nor sad. He had lost himself into tranquility.
The news spread like a wild fire across the college campus and the media. The Suthilucks' had lost their only son in a car accident. No culprits were caught and no press release was organised by the family. The family requested the media and the people to leave them alone at the time of grief. The students, professors, college staffs, principal, nanny and Kong's friends came to see his body. But there was no trace of his family.
Nothing was notified about the funeral. The dark figure visited the hospital only to be shooed by the principal and nanny. Since his parents did not come to claim the body. The hospital authorities and the nanny decided to wait for two more days for their parents to change their hardened and callous heart at least on his death. Till then Kong was laid in the hospital mortuary with a tag tied to his right foot.
