Brady's POV
"Yes."
And then time stopped. Neither of us breathing. Paralyzed with fear.

"Brady I need a favor," Brooke spun around on my chair suddenly and stared.
"Okay," I marked the book I was ready and patted the space beside me on the bed. Brooke smiled and hopped onto the bed.
"It's the summer before sophomore year," Brooke started twisting her hair with is left pointer finger.
"Thank you Captain Obvious, I know." I rolled my eyes and playfully pushed her, "Just tell me what I can do for you."
"What I'm about to ask is without any feelings, okay?" Brooke looked at me fiddling with the rings she always wore on her fingers.
"Okay?" I smiled, "Although you are a very sensitive person..."
"Shut up that's just annoying," She glared at me and I couldnt do anything but smile.
"Well," I grabbed her by the stomach and pulled her closer to me, "Spill."
"Okay basically i need you to kissmebecauseidontwanttobe the only one who's well a loser." Brooke had rushed her words but I understood.
I swear my heart stopped beating, "What?"
Brooke cringed, "I know you kissed Chloe at homecoming but I haven't been kissed yet and I just wanna get it over with."
"I did what with who?" I blinked at Brooke for a second not understanding what she said.
"You told me you kissed Chloe at homecoming," Brooke raised her eyebrows at me.
I had completely forgotten about the fact I had lied to Brooke in a desperate attempt to let her go. Trust me though, it didn't work.
"Yeah I did," I scratched my head, "As you can see it was super memorable."
Brooke laugh and I felt the vibrations in my hands. I look down surprised to see myself still holding Brooke by the stomach.
"So will you?" Brooke's cheeks flushed, "you're the only guy I'd trust to take my first kiss. Best friends helping each other out ammarite?"
I looked at her and tried to get the image of me wrapping my arms around her body and pulling her close. The image where she wasn't asking for just one kiss. I wanted her to kiss me until all the heart break was gone.
But I would take one kiss.
"Of course," I smiled my own cheeks glowing a faint pink color, "What are best friends for?"
She started to open her mouth to reply but I cut her off.
I leaned in and cupped her face in my hands. As I got closer I could see the golden flakes in Brooke's dark brown eyes. I closed my eyes.
Then I was kissing her. Only for a second but it felt like pure sunlight radiating through me. But then I forced myself to pull away slowly.
She opened her eyes and looked at me with an expression I had never seen before on her. I was still cupping her face; it as only when she leaned back did my hands drop.
"Hope that worked," I smiled widely letting my happiness shine obvious to everyone.
"Yeah I'd say so," Brooke laughed, "thank you Brady. I mean it."
One kiss. If that's all I ever got I could be okay.
