Horrified gasps ring out.

"What?! Why would I do that?!" Maya asks incredulously.
Leah shrugs "Honestly I have no idea! My sisters, my friends & I have never understood it. We ask ourselves that question at least several times a day!" Dawning expressions hit most the females "But let's continue the story. Throw the stone at the mirror." Maya's eyes fill with tears as she shakes her head. "You have already thrown the stone Maya! Now you are simply visualising the damage!" Silent tears fall down Maya's face as she lowers her head to the ground. Hers were not the only tears.

"You throw the stone at the mirror. It merely scratches the surface. So you continue. Maybe it's the same stone you keep picking up. Maybe it's others. Or maybe it's more than one flying at the mirror at a time. You keep on until scratches become little cracks. Into bigger cracks. Eventually when you look upon your reflection all you can see are those cracks and scratches! You can't even really see yourself anymore, never mind, a beautiful confident version! The glass no longer shines. The frame looks beaten & battered from all the stones. The unique & beautiful mirror is no more!"

Sobs fill the back garden.

"That mirror represents your mate bond & your virtue! The way you saw yourself? How the mirror made u feel? That's how your mate will see you, how they will make you feel each & every day! Those stones you threw? Each one was an act against your mate! Each kiss, each caress with another, is another stone flying towards its target on that mirror! Until eventually the mate bond is broken there is nothing special left!"

Maya along with a dozen young females sob heart broken. "Does it still seem as no big deal?" Leah asks gently. All the females shake their heads in reply. No it most definitely does not seem so inconsequential anymore!
