Chapter 50*N

"Your going about this all wrong you get that right?" Chris asks Daniel as he helps him to his feet, bracing one of Daniels arms over his shoulders his wraps an arm around his back "Ugh! ... Yeah! ..... I know!" Daniel grimaces in pain Ste comes to his other side and together they help Daniel to walk towards the hospital wing. "If you get it why are you doing this to yourself?" Ste asks "She deserves .... better" Daniel mutters "Yeah she does! She deserves you to at least try to fight for her than give up!" He replies with a harsh tone "I'm not ... giving up ... just .." Daniel shakes his head struggling to find the right words to tell them. "Dude I get it, I do. Sorry doesn't feel like it cuts it - but this?" Chris shakes his head before continuing "Getting your ass handed to you by her friends isn't going to do anything to fix things!"
"Same as avoiding her isn't either! Probably making it worse" Ste states.
"Yeah ... I know ... dumb ... need new plan" Daniel brokenly gets out.

The doors to the hospital wing in sight, just a few more steps and they'll be there, Daniel can get fixed up and then they can start planning. Chris stops mid step knocking Daniel and Ste out of rhythm, "Leah" he utters quietly, seeing her stepping out the doors. "Leah!" He calls out slightly panicked running to her side, his actions causing Daniel and Ste to stumble and a groan of pain from Daniel. Chris grabs Leah's shoulders gently while his wide eyes study her face "Babe, what's wrong?" Leah blinks in surprise "Nothing" hearing another groan from Daniel and a grunt from Ste she looks at them for a second before looking back to Chris her eyebrows raised and questions in her eyes "Amber and Kate" Chris informs her, understanding lights her eyes instantly and she nods.

"Leah, babe, tell me what's wrong" Chris beseeches
"Nothing"
"Then why was you in the hospital?" glancing down he notices the paper bag in her hands "why do you need medication?"
"I don't" seeing his frustration she beats him to the point explaining "I was at the hospital to pick this up" she lifts the hand holding the medication "it's for Sophie" she half shrugs.
"Sophie?" Daniel groans out "what's ... wrong with ... Sophie?" He asks, Leah throws him a dirty look "Leah?" Chris asks gently "Damn it ... tell me ... what's happened ... to Sophie!" Leah turns a cold hard look to the injured Daniel "You! Your what happened to Sophie!" She tells him, his eyes shine even while looking confused "Why ... does she ... need medication?"
"In order to rest!" Daniel stares at her silently telling her to continue, Leah sighs "She cry's and cry's until she finally cry's herself asleep" Daniel grimaces "However unless she has some of these she gets no rest, she spends the night restless whimpering." Leah glances at Chris then back at Daniel "She can't continue like this! She knows it too. These" She again lifts the white paper bag holding the medication inside "They're a temporary fix, it'll do her no good to be on these much longer, especially since she's barely eating these days" she rolls her eyes "We have to badger her to eat anything lately! You need to get it over with"

All three men look confused at her words. "Get what over with?" Chris asks, Leah looks at him sadly "The rejection...the official rejection"
"Wwhhatt?" Daniel stutters then starts shaking his head. Leah looks at him confused, before looking to Chris, Ste then back to Chris "He isn't going to reject her Leah" Chris tells her gently. Leah frowns "Really?"
"Really" Daniel confirms
"She's expecting your rejection any day, has been for a while now! For the most part I think she has even mentally accepted it" "No!" Daniel brokenly gasps blinking tears free from his eyes, his grief blatant. " You need to get a handle on your shit and quickly!" Leah tells him "She doesn't know why you haven't done it yet, she's even wondering if your having second thoughts on it or just enjoying making her suffer" Daniel shakes his head "Never ... meant to.."
"Then what did you mean to happen? You've not spoke a word to her! Not an apology! Nothing!"
"I know ... but how does ... sorry cut it? ... my wolf ... he'd sensed her ... he took control for a second .... I took it back ... and she ... she had to see ... me with ... Maya .... how does ... sorry ... even count?" Leah looks at him sadly "It's start. It's a baby step in the right direction" she glances at Chris smiling slightly before looking back at Daniel "Chris apologises to me several times a day. It drives me batty!" Out of the corner of her eye she can see Chris blushing "But at the same time I'm glad he does" she feels Chris' attention sharpen on her "Let's me know he means it, he really regrets it" she meets Chris' eyes "and I really appreciate that" she tells him with a small smile he returns. "I best get back to Sophie, but Daniel"
"Yeah?" He asks hoarsely
"Make up your mind and act on it, but do it quickly. What your doing now is hurting her more and she's done waiting, she's thinking of biting the bullet and rejecting you to get you both out of this limbo hell" She brushes her fingers against Chris' and starts to move away looking back at Daniel she adds "If it helps any, Sophie's not one to hold grudges - says it takes too much energy to hold such negative feelings"
