A throat clears "Yeeaahh brother still stood here!" Matt raises an hand in the air as he brings their moment to a screeching halt. Leah's not sure if she should be grateful or annoyed. Staring intensely into her eyes Chris slowly relaxes his grip, releasing her hand. She snaps it back to her side, swallowing hastily.
"So ..." Matt purses his lips "how many of us goes with you?"
Leah rolls her eyes "told you! None! I always go in solo"
"Not anymore!" Chris argues
"Nothing has changed!" Leah snaps back, Chris growls lowly at her dismissal.
"Lover boys right! We are going with you!" Matt argues
"No!"
"Why not?!" They both demand
Leah sighs and picks up her top sliding it on and fastening it up "Not to bruise your delicate male egos but, you will only slow me down and get in my way!" She tells them honestly. They gape back at her shocked.Leah tugs on her sleeves ensuring the armour covers the back of her hands before making sure it was tightly hugging her neck too. Her gaze sweeps over the stunned males as she takes small steps towards the woods. Hmm maybe, just maybe she will escape an argument over this.
"You did not just say that!" Arron bites out angrily. And the males all start arguing how they wouldn't slow her down, blah blah. Perfectly capable of fighting, blah blah blah. Hearing enough Leah raises her hands in surrender.
"Your wasting time!" She snaps at them "So how about a compromise?" The men stop their bickering to listen "any who can keep up with me can join me, the rest go to the checkpoints; don't care how many of you go to the checkpoints as long as you don't draw the attention of the rogues and ruin everything!"She waits just long enough for them all to nod. Leah smiles taking slow steps towards the woods "Great!" With that she spins on her heel and takes off at a jog into the woods. Silently she laughs as curses ring out behind her. The men scrambling to follow. "Daniel organise whose manning the checkpoints and prepare for our return. I'll mindlink you our whereabouts" Chris shouts over his shoulder as he chases off after his challenging mate.
The pounding of feet tells him the others are matching his pace. He counts five others running beside him, with another five just behind. Leah is far ahead of them. About a mile in she turns to jog backwards in order to watch them. Smiling brightly her eyes dance with amusement. Chris admires her, her smile, her beautiful eyes, the easy gait she runs with. "Well ... this jog has been a great warm up, thanks lads, but I really must be making time now! Let's pick it up yeah?!"
Chris blinks in surprise.
Glancing left and right he sees the same expression on his companions faces. Turning his focus back upon Leah, just in time to see her wiggle her fingers in a wave before she turns and sprints off. He was so shocked with her speed his feet stumbled a few of the steps.
"What the .." Michael gasps
"When did she get that fast?!" Arron demands.
"Where is she? I can't see her" one of the warriors Peter questions
"Chris lead us" Arron instructs
Chris growls at him for thinking he can order him about "Can't "
"Cause you can! Your her mate! Follow her scent!" Matt snaps
Chris stops running turning to face Matt, glaring at him "You think me some idiot?! She's been masking her scent since before we left!" the others stop beside him watching him carefully
"I'm aware! But again your her mate!" Matt goads
"There was a faint trace in the air, just enough to follow, but now ..... now there's nothing! I can smell her scent as much as you can!" Chris snarls at him in reply. They all stare at him shocked. "That's .. that's not possible!" Michael states "she can't hide her scent from you! It's impossible!"
Chris scoffs "I may not have known her long but, In the short time I've known her, I would confidently say nothing is impossible to her! Just unknown by the rest of us!"
Michael purses his lips whilst slightly nodding in agreement "you may have a point there!"
Matt throws his arms up "great! Just fucking great!" Chris glares and growls in reply, squaring up to his mates highly annoying brother, he neither trusted nor liked the man and he didn't know why, just that something about the man and his attitude rubs him and his Wolf up the wrong way. Michael moves to separate them "come on guys we aren't gonna find her this way!" They all nod in agreement, breathing a little easier as Chris backs away from Matt with a lasting hard look. The group of men split up to search for trace or track of Leah. After 10 minutes they met back up together, having failed to find even a hint of her direction.
"Damn it!" Matt growls
"Your sister is a sly one ain't she!" Peter comments. Chris and Matt growls.
"Watch your mouth Peter!" Chris warns
"I was just say ..."
"Don't!" Chris growls "Never cast insult on her again!"
"Alpha! I wasn't! I swear!" Chris and Matt survey him with narrowed eyes "I was only observing that she's a quick one! Sly as a fox - in a good way - nout will get past our Luna!" Chris along with Leah's three pack mates smiles
"Aye! She'll be a brilliant and strong Luna!" Chris agrees.
