Antonio Masters
Maddison helped me down the stairs slowly yet it was her who ended up needing to be helped. She slipped and let out a scream as she fell. It was as if my pain no longer existed as I leaped down a couple steps and caught her with an arm as if I were dipping her in a dance. "Nice catch. You have very quick reflexes." The man with the dog says and I look up at him, a hand in his pocket, a slight imprint was visible.
"I would let go of the razor blade if I were you." I say dryly and the man stiffens. I stand Maddison up and she looks at me with wide eyes then looks back at the man.
"How?" He growls and slowly pulls his hand from his pocket, a razor blade between his fingers.
"Don't even think about it." Maddison warns.
"Too late." The man hissed and flings the blade at ma. He snatches a knife from Maddisons waist and and throws it at an angle. It slices through the air and pins the razor blade to the wall.
Maddison faints and I grab her just in time. The man nods. "Now you have my trust and respect." He says and I smile.
"What a... different way of earning it." I reply and lift Maddison bridal style.
The man shrugs and we walk the rest of the way down the stairs into a huge, dark room aglow with the light of the highest technology imaginable. "She really is made of money." I mumble to myself. The man swiftly walks past me and the Rhodesian Ridgeback trots over to a blavk and red leopard print dog bed and lays down.
"This is so cool." I laugh and the man looks back at me.
"This is where you will be controlling the drones from this station here." He says and I take Maddison over to a table with two large screens and two remote controls. Carefully I put Maddison into one of the seats
"Thank you." The sound of humming computers sent happy sparks of electricity through my veins.
"No problem. Jab this into her neck and she'll wake right up." The man hands me a needle and walks out of the bunker, leaving me, the dog and an unconscious Maddison in a room full of computer tech.
"Let's hope this works." Taking the needle and jabbing it I to her neck Maddison gasps and I quickly pull it out. She rubs her neck and looks down at the needle in my hand.
"You jabbed me?" She asks in shock and I hold my hands up.
"I swear it wasn't my idea. It was the guy with the Rhodesian Ridgeback who by the way is watching us. Now I had to jab you because we have work to do. The drones remember." I indicate to the computer with my hand which was still above my head.
Maddison sighs and looks away. "You are one lucky man." She kicks a chair over and I sit down quickly.
"Please tell me you know how to play video games." The sharp edge to her voice sliced through me. Maddison is furious at something or someone. Or she has just killed someone who ended up being a good person. To be honest I don't know what's worse and would prefer it to be neither.
"Of course. What's a computer genius if they can't play video games." I reply in a very desperate attempt to lighten the mood. Maddison smiles but it makes my blood go cold.
That is no smile you want to see on a girl like her with the skills that she has. "Good. Here's a controller. Make sure you don't kill any of my people or anyone who shouldn't be killed. Just the basterds who stole our city and keep bringing my father back to life." She says coldly and I take the controller quickly from her hands. She nods and puts something into the computer which made it go online. I could see the top of a building from what must be the camera of the drone I'm to be controlling.
"Please don't break it. You don't want to know what these cost." Maddison says in a dangerous tone that sent shivers through my body.
"Don't worry. This isn't the first time I've controlled a drone without being anywhere near it and all that I could see was what the camera saw. I won't damage it." I say, completely praying that what I just said will happen and I won't be killed. Not today anyways.
"Good. Now these aren't like drone drones. They're more like remote control helicopters that's bodies are the length of my leg. The tail is an added length of half my leg. The trees completely bulletproof and have 4000 bullets as well as 100 poison darts just in case. Now let's get this party started." Maddison starts her helicopter drone and from my drones camera I see it take off and fly off the roof.
Quickly I do the same and fly out over the street. My heart sinks. It looks the exact same except for all the dead bodies. "Let's go kill some mother fucking home stealing sycophantic killers." I say with a dark grin as I stare hard at the screen.
One of the bad guys spots me and alerts his mates. All start to shot at me. Anyone else would have started shooting back or flown out of range. But I'm not anyone else. Instead I fly straight at them. "What the fuck are you doing?" Maddison screams.
I roll the helicopter dodging the line of bullets before leveling 3 meters from the ground where I fire 10 swift shots, all kill shots. I fly the helicopter back into the air and hover in front of Maddisons. "How did you do that?" Maddison gasps, spinning my chair with her foot so I was facing her.
"I'm a very highly trained military pilot. I know how to fly a helicopter. Both by remote and in the pilot seat. You should have more faith in me Maddison. Now let's go fight this battle and win." I smile at her and she returns it.
This time instead of making my blood go cold in fear, it made me smile more and feel all warm and happy inside which is a complete change of emotion.
Together we spin to face the computers. Watch out bad guys. We're coming and we hold no mercy.
