Once Adrien returned, they continued making her food. Adrien was surprisingly good at cooking, although he seemed more logical and skillful at it than Alex, who was just enjoying it doing it his way. The girl seemed uncomfortable with so much food and after some time it just looked like she was too full for another bite. Mia wasn't as bored as before, she got to taste different food, so it was fine for her. Until that got boring too.
"... This isn't working." She rolled her eyes, not having the space in her stomach to eat anymore exotic food.
"We can try more food out!" Alex immediately stepped in.
"You don't have to, I really can't eat anymore anyway..." The green haired girl said softly, not liking the way they looked like they were all on edge because of her not remembering anything.
"We need to try out new things..." Adrien mumbled, looking halfway panicked now.
"Or we could just take the easy-" Mia started but she was interrupted.
"Stop suggesting that!" Alex raised his voice, looking very annoyed by now.
"I'm just saying it would be easier..." Mia mumbled, looking at the floor as if she felt like her efforts weren't appreciated.
"We should try showing her pictures of some celebrities from her century, I think that would maybe work..." Adrien continued as if he wasn't even listening to the two of them.
"Just give up with this shit!" Now Mia yelled directly at Adrien who finally looked up from his paper with ideas.
He looked as if he was surprised she reacted like that, like he wasn't even listening to the two of them, which he probably wasn't.
"Adrien, listen to me. If she hasn't remembered by now, rather tell her. I really doubt she'd mind, or that your career would mind." She stated, standing right in front of him.
"I don't want to take the easy way out." He stated firmly, his red eyes looking back at the paper.
Mia got annoyed by him and impulsively smacked the papers out of his hand. He didn't have quite the reaction except looking at her at shock, as if the work he was putting himself into was killing him that much.
"Calm down your nerves, Mia!" Alex yelled out, going to pick the papers up.
"The caretakers won't know." She said slowly, like she was talking to an idiot, completely ignoring Alex like she always did.
"... But I will know. And that's enough for me." His answer made her eyes roll up her skull from annoyance.
"Set aside your goddamn pride and think about who you're traumatizing here!" Mia yelled out, picking out a specific paper that was sealed in a envelope.
Adrien wanted to snatch the envelope from her, but she moved away a bit.
"Then at least cheat. Read about her life. Hint something to her." Mia gave it to him now, trying to make this easier for everyone.
"All of us can do better than that. Especially you, Mr. Marais. You earned your place here, don't just make it worthless." Alex spoke up, somehow looking more passionate about his moral doings than Adrien himself.
It will be worthless if I get fired. He thought about it. He had too much pride to do something like this, but what was it worth if he won't have anything to even be prideful about if he lost his job? He didn't like the circumstances, or that he was dumb enough to let his dumb pride guide him. But what could he do now? Either stick to it or break his pride...
But then again, a broken pride can easily be healed.
He looked at the girl who was so complicated. Her green hair and scared pink eyes. He saw how guilty she looked, how frightened she was. Ah, Mia was right. This was just complicating everything. He opened the envelope, much to Mia's satisfaction and to Alex's horror.
"M-Mr. Marais!" Alex yelped.
"You'd understand if you were in my shoes." Adrien told him as his eyes scrolled through the document.
What he read quite indeed did shock him. He looked at the terrified girl and at the document again, his face bewildered. His eyebrows furrowed as he read the document until the end. Once he finished he stood there deep in thought.
"Deep trauma indeed." He whispered out.
"What do you mean?" Mia questioned.
"Just read this part." Adrien pointed out a row.
"Oh." Mia said, her face uncomfortable and voice a bit higher than usual.
"Deep trauma could cause memory loss. But... It can be regained." Adrien slowly said, as if he didn't believe his own voice.
"How though?" Mia questioned, suddenly getting a bit excited.
"No, don't, that wouldn't be right at all!" Alex looked horrified.
Mia immediately got the gesture. At any other time she would think Alex was being dramatic and childish, but now she completely understood why he would react like that. She got exactly what he meant, the only logical conclusion.
The girl looked at them in fright. Once she saw Alex's face, she got ten times more worried and scared. She knew Adrien could go far, but judging by his expression, this was something unusual even for them, which made her nervous.
"Go get it." Mia told Adrien.
He felt as if he was doing was right once Mia showed some sort of agreement. Like he wasn't going to do something he'd regret. It was for the greater good. It'll help both him and the green haired girl. He went to the kitchen, leaving the three of them alone.
"W-What will he do?" The girl squeaked out.
"Nothing as far as I'm here." Alex stated, looking at Mia in anger and shock.
"Alex, it's for the better." Mia stated, although looking uncomfortable herself.
"What are you guys talking about?" The girl spoke up, looking panicked.
"In order to regain your memories..." She heard Adrien's voice as he went out of the kitchen.
She noticed he had a kitchen knife in hand. The way he was holding it made her feel unease, fright, terror... Familiarity. This situation was familiar. Like she felt all of this before.
"... You need to relive them."
