Mia hurriedly started using the key, trying to force open the door. Although she was so very close, the men took her away from the doors. The alarms kept ringing as she tried to fight back. The only thing she cared about in that moment were that doors, and she couldn't do anything as she saw them getting more and more distant. She screamed, kicked, cried and growled, but letting her go wasn't an option for them.
"Why did you think this was going to work?" She heard a voice as a man looked at her.
She didn't even notice her surroundings. A couple of men and one judger surrounded them. Two of the men were Caretakers, and to her surprise, one of them was Alex's dad. Alex had his hands cuffed up. His face was a look of pure worry and panic. She felt guilt. She shouldn't have let him join her. He'll get some bad consequences now.
Mia kept quiet, trying to calm herself down, although it was hard to do. There weren't many people here. She got scared once more once she felt the weight of the cuffs on her hands. She didn't quite know if there was a way out of this and it scared her shitless. The only thing she could think of now was if someone saved her, anyone. Adrien, she hoped, but she knew it wasn't possible.
The only Judger there took the key from outside the lock, making her even more desperate. She hoped she could do something on Earth, anything would be fine. She even hoped that maybe she could find something better there, maybe not kill herself. But now she had to stay here forever anyway. So close, yet now she was taking him with her. She should've stayed quiet. She hated herself.
"What do you have to say for your son, Mr. Carvallo?" One of the other Caretakers asked Alex's father.
"I have no doubt this was the influence of this stupid girl." He said in disgust.
"No! I wasn't trying anything! I just wanted to see her one last time! She's not a bad person!" Alex felt ashamed and embarrassed, he didn't want to do this to his dad.
"Not trying to stop her is criminal. I don't care if you're my son, you'll get severely punished." His father looked like he didn't have any sympathy for his own son.
Mia's head kept racing. This was all her fault. Why did she have to be so selfish? It could've ended if she only did this herself. She couldn't help but feel even worse when he was trying to defend her like that. She was so thankful for him, but he was so stupid.
"Do you need spare Judgers?" His father questioned coldly.
She deserved this. But he didn't.
"He didn't do anything! Spare him! Alex didn't want to interrupt me!" She couldn't hold in the crying, she had to protect him just this once, the last time she got the chance.
Both of them kept yelling words of protection, although both of them were coldly ignored.
"It's always good to have them, just in case." The Judger answered with his monotone voice, if it even was a he.
"I don't think you will this time though." Were his father's last words before he punched him straight in the face.
"Now! Now! Now!" His father hurridly yelled.
He pushed him to the floor quickly, making Mia baffled. She expected something grand and epic, a whole bunch of people, but she got two people running toward them. Unako and Ruben. Mia grinned. Ruben is more than just a bunch of people.
It didn't take long until all of them were on the ground, violently getting beaten down, their heads getting smashed on the ground. These wounds will take a lot to heal now. There was blood everywhere, he did smash their skulls in the floor after all. Did he care much? Not really.
Mia looked at the two of them. Unako gave her an unamused face, Ruben wasn't looking any better. She did backstab the both of them in very violent ways.
"No hard feelings?" She questioned, not knowing if this will help or not.
Unako rolled her eyes. Ruben stomped to where she was sitting, cuffed and helpless. She was half expecting him to hit her, but he only broke her handcuffs very easily. She forgot he was so strong.
"You're a dumb fucking bitch, you know that, Amyot?" He said in an oddly cheery tone as he pulled her up without her asking.
"I... I sure am." Mia said in a baffled tone, for everything that happened.
She couldn't believe she got saved the last minute and from all the people she didn't expect it from. From Alex's dad, to Ruben, to Unako... She never thought they wanted to help and were willing to forgive her.
"I never thought I'd hear you agree with that, Mia." Unako laughed a little bit.
She didn't get annoyed at all. She was still too baffled at everything. She backstabbed them willingly, thinking they'd do the same to her. But all of them seemed so forgiving that it made her feel guilty.
Ruben went forward to help Alex, breaking his cuffs too. He didn't know what else to do than start questioning his dad.
"Why? I thought-" Alex started, but he got cut off.
"I didn't want to repeat the same mistake again." Alex's dad said, remembering just how exactly he lost his son the last time.
This was another chance. He gave him everything he could now. He couldn't let him die off.
"We went after you, since we knew this was going to happen. You're really dumb, Amyot. Really, really dumb." Ruben kept taking all the chances he could before she'd return to her usual self.
"B-But your job..." Alex was on the verge of tears again, getting panicked for his dad.
"It doesn't matter now. I'll go out. I have nothing to do here. Especially now that I made a blow against them. They know on who's side I am now." Alex's dad smiled, happy he finally did something benefical for his son, he felt like he finally showed proper care.
He still did feel uncomfortable when his son hugged him and cried into his arms, but at least he felt fullfilled finally and like he wasn't such a shit father. Showing care wasn't really his strong spot.
Unako took the key out from the Judger's pocket, putting it inside his own.
"We need to wait for Lovisa." Ruben reminded her in an angry tone, not wanting to leave her behind.
"I don't deserve to go with you guys though..." Mia spoke up, her voice cracking.
"What's with you today?" Ruben laughed at her.
"Of course you do." He roughly ruffled her hair until it was a mess.
She was left speechless. She didn't even know why, she felt fuzzy and warm. A blush went through her cheeks, making her feel weird.
"Don't worry, we understand. You tried something good, but it didn't go so well. Just don't repeat it, okay?" Unako smiled at her.
Why was she so untrusting? All of this hurt. Maybe if she gave Alex a chance, maybe she didn't have to leave, but it was too late now. She wanted to cry once again, but she couldn't. She didn't want to cry when she felt genuinely happy. This was her last chance to talk to Alex.
"Hope we aren't late!" She heard Eleonore's voice in the distance.
She saw Ruben's face getting red as he noticed Adrien. This would end very badly.
