A light. Flashes everywhere. It felt almost blinding. A lot of flashing lights burning bright onto her open eyelids, but they showed different colors, shapes and eventually, pictures. It was like a fast forward presentation.
Mom. Dad. She recognized them. He had wavy slicked hair, she had straight blonde hair. With his brown eyes she gazed upon his child, with her mom right beside her. Watching her with admiration and love, not believing they had such a beautiful child.
Her school. Filled with bright red colors and drawings all over the walls. Small children running around the halls, yelling loudly and laughing with glee. The teachers giving them grades, the tests she got always had a great mark.
Tons of books in her room, most of them romantic or a horror, which made for an ironic clash. Alone in her room, reading books and listening to music on her radio. She'd dance around in her room, yelling loudly on Friday nights, when her parents would have date night.
A boy with blue eyes and brown hair, tan skin and wide smile. Running around the field and making her flower crowns. His name was... Shosen. That filed always had good memories, but as the memories got faster, the colors got darker.
The field at the night. The snow was falling. Why were they there? Why did she follow him? His eyes were wide and not closing. Lifeless.
When was it her turn? Not a lot of time passed before it was. The man ripped her clothes off. She was too weak to even fight back. Stabbing and penetration. It was so cold though. The only thing she could feel was coldness as snow lightly tapped on her unmoving body.
Why did she follow him into the field?
Everything else was dark. She couldn't feel anything. Did she die? But she noticed things were different once her eyes opened.
She saw an unknown man looking at her with an angered face. His neon red eyes were fuming as he looked down upon her. He was familiar, but she was too disoriented. She couldn't move anything but her head, and she could feel a harsh headache in her skull.
"S-She woke up?" She heard a familiar voice as well.
The boy ran inside, his hair a dark blue shade and his eyes light yellow. Why couldn't she remember them?
"She doesn't remember us yet, Mister Carvallo." The man told him, his voice oddly deep.
"Oh... Right." Was the only thing the boy could say as he awkwardly sat down next to the bed.
"What's your name, dear?" The man suddenly questioned her, making her get a bit frightened.
"U-Unako." She whispered out in a scared voice.
The red haired man couldn't help but let out a smile. He laughed slightly and looked at the younger boy with a sigh.
"You managed, Mister Carvallo. I don't know if I should be happy because you made her memories come back, or angry at you for making me go through all of this stress." But judging by his wide smile, it was obvious it was the first one.
But she remembered once he said the word memories. How she escaped from Adrien with Alex. How she was... Dead.
But no matter how dumbfounding it sounded when she said it out loud, she felt like she already got used to the fact. And now that she knew how she died... She just didn't know how to handle the fact she couldn't see anyone from her past life.
"It wasn't on purpose, I don't think I deserve any acclaim for this..." Alex spoke up, looking at the floor, feeling bad he even ran away like a child.
"Shut up, Alex." The unknown girl, Unako, spoke up.
Alex and Adrien looked at her wide eyed. She already remembered?
"I'm grateful for the both of you... Having my memories means so much to me, even if they're painful. I finally feel like I'm somebody." She spilled her heart out, tears running down her face.
Alex went out to hug her, even though she couldn't really hug back. Adrien was obviously feeling uncomfortable with the sudden display of emotion. Not to mention the sudden thankfulness the girl expressed. He always thought she'd hate him forever just for how he was acting at the start, so this made him quite surprised, yet oddly warm.
Once Alex pulled away from the tight hug, it was noticable he was crying too. He never could get how Alex managed to be so empathetic to other people's feelings. All Adrien felt was awkwardness and disturbance, mixed in with a bit of guilt and sympathy.
"I should explain what happened to you." Adrien told her.
"Um, yeah, I'm kinda wondering why I'm paralyzed." Unako told him, making him laugh a bit.
"Well, Alex, who's obviously a great future caretaker, made a trigger for your memories to return." The bright side of the story made her smile from joy.
Alex felt happy from the compliments. He knew that now they were over with the job. But he didn't know what would happen next. Now that they were finished, how would he get his job? Would he fit in? And was this truly what he wanted?
"But, as every new person that comes here, once they realize who they are, they can't handle the shock of being dead. The trauma is too hard. You had a very violent outburst that took a lot of people to calm you down." Adrien explained, the amusement wasn't really in his voice the moment he mentioned 'other people'.
"I may or may not have gotten a bad reputation in my work area. But on the bright side, I didn't have to pay for anything that newcomers usually break." He explained, at least satisfied that he didn't have to sacrifice his money.
"I'm sorry..." Alex told him immediately, feeling guilty.
"I'm sorry too, he wouldn't have done anything if I didn't make him." She apologized immediately after, as if she didn't want Alex having any bad consequences.
"Why are you apologizing?" Adrien questioned, baffled at them.
"I'm not entirely amused by the running away part and that other people had to get involved, but I still have my job, which means I don't really care." Adrien explained to then, satisfied he still has his job.
"But... Are you sure?" Alex questioned again.
"Yes, I'm sure, Mister Carvallo." Adrien repeated.
He noticed Alex was gonna continue pestering him, so he decided to say something else.
"We need to discuss your new job now." Adrien smiled down at Alex, feeling oddly proud for the boy.
It managed to shut him up about that topic, as he started energetically jumping around, not waiting to get the job he always dreamed of.
