"Unako!" Alex yelled out, getting the short girl's attention.

She looked up at him, looking like she was scared of what she just witnessed. He saw a lot of emotions pass in her. But she truly felt like she understood this society now.

"Alex, they didn't move..." Was the first thing she said, getting nervous even while saying it, unease peeling in her skin.

"I-I know, t-they said they heal slower and-" Alex tried believing them, making up excuses.

"Do you really believe that?" She questioned him, knowing he felt otherwise.

"It could be possible that they aren't lying..." He mumbled in an unsure way, obviously not quite convinced himself.

"Think for yourself, Alex. I know Adrien is trying to tell you his own story, but it's obvious who's at fault here." Unako stated, looking like she looked down upon him just because he believed Adrien and not her.

The crowd made this whole conversation worse. It made him feel like he was in the moment and like he had to choose between something. He didn't like that. He trusted and believed Adrien, but he too felt like something didn't add up. Like there was something much bigger going on around him that was kept hidden.

"Adrien explained a lot of things. Why you shouldn't go-" And he was interrupted again.

"And why shouldn't we?" She interrupted him once more.

"Unako, it's all so uncertian. You could end up in any time period... Adrien found a book that says a lot of stuff... They explain that there was some sort of demon attack on Earth, and they went crazy-" He tried to explain frantically through the noisy bunches, but it made him feel on edge when she interrupted him billions of times.

"Doesn't mean it's about us." She crossed her arms, looking at him like he was dumb.

"Stop interrupting me! You're not the smartest person on the planet!" He yelled out in a heat of annoyance, getting seriously offended by the third time she interrupted him.

He just wanted to help her and make her understand the threat of trying to join the rebellion. She treated him like an idiot for caring for her.

"... Sorry, I won't do it anymore." She apologized, somewhat embarrassed, looking at the floor with her pink eyes.

He sighed, feeling bad automatically after he yelled. He took a hold of her hand, which made her off guard. She got surprised by the gesture. Alex pulled her lightly to where there was less noise and less people. He felt much less under pressure and distracted.

"We'll talk here, where I won't feel agitated." Alex told her, scratching his head slightly, looking at the floor as well, like he was embarrassed as much as she was.

"It's my fault, I should've listened." Unako apologized, looking like she was about to cry as well.

"Don't worry. It's nothing serious. You still have time to listen." Alex smiled.

And Unako had to return it. They missed each other. Why did his past have to get in the way?

"I really hope you can change my mind." She said suddenly with a sad smile, which made Alex oddly nervous and scared, pressured most of all.

"You can end up anywhere, our bodies maybe aren't even capable anymore of changing to the Earth's atmosphere... So much could go wrong, is it really worth the risk?" He questioned her, somewhat fumbling on his words, obviously scared for her and if she'll listen.

"I don't really have much to live for, Alex." She said like it was normal to her and not a big deal, but he could see something terribly sad in her glossy pink eyes.

Alex took a step back, he didn't know why. He got all too reminded of Mia. He started to feel panicky. He had to save her this time. He couldn't let another friend leave and feel worthless. He just couldn't, it was his duty.

"But you have a whole new life ahead of yourself, you can do so much with me and Adrien." He tried to cheer her up, gently putting his hands on her shoulders.

"I don't have my family anymore. I'm broken and unclean. I know I look fine, but I just..." She looked at the floor once more.

She just wanted love. She didn't know how to explain it. She needed someone to love her. She always did feel alone, no matter how easily she did make friends. She always found herself going away. Except her boyfriend, who was remarkably similar to Alex. Their personality was identical.

"We can help you, I'm sure of it. You're none of that, Unako. We'll take care of you, no matter what you do. We'll always have a place for you." He tried, he sounded desperate, his happy tone was fake and was riddled with quivers of a close break out of tears.

She removed his hands slowly and softly, still trying to smile.

"I found some adventure in this. I don't care what happens to me on Earth." Unako answered, some sort of odd serenity in her voice.

He didn't know what to say to her anymore, so he continued to say the words of comfort that came to mind. He saw it was useless, she kept answering with the same hopeless answers.

"I wasn't a duty to you, Alex." She said finally.

Somehow, that hurt him. This was a very wrong choice to make. Losing someone over the past. He again felt like he had to make a choice, but he didn't know what was a smart thing to do. Leave the past behind or stay loyal... He wished someone could just tell him what to do, anything would do. He struggled to find the words to tell her.

"I... don't know what to do." He choked on his own words.

"I can't decide what's more important to you, Alex." She said softly, rubbing his shoulder in a comforting way.

"See you around, hopefully, before the outbreak." She waved as she left.

He opened his mouth to say something, but he really didn't have anything to say. He just watched her leave as he cursed himself in his mind for not doing anything. As he watched her leave, in a very similar way to Mia, he could only think one thing.

He really was incompetent. And only that he thought as he stood there, looking at the spot where her figure once was.
