"Hey, can I get that?" Mia asked in enthusiasm, pointing at the cotton candy that was on sale.
"Ah, yeah, sure, have whatever you want." He told her, looking around town as well.
Everything in Hell was pretty much the same. The apartments were premade and they couldn't be changed unless you were on a higher status, like Adrien. Having about six people in a room was normal. On the inside most houses looked a bit different, with memories on the walls, such as pictures or drawings. But the outsides were just dull grey walls with nothing on them except a few windows and numbers. He didn't know if that was the case for the other districts in Hell, but he surely knew it was boring here. Some of the stores were lively though, which made him glad. Sometimes he'd just want to get tons of paint buckets and throw paint around in the hopes of giving this town some color.
Alex got her the cotton candy without any hesitation. She ate it gladly, mixing it with the other sweets he got her. Chocolates, gummy bears, everything a child could imagine. Mia wasn't exactly a child, far from it, but at least she got pleasure from something.
"Hey, can I get some pancakes?" She asked again, pointing with her long nail at the food place where they would usually serve pancakes.
"Yeah, I could eat some too actually." Alex concluded, going there with her.
"So, what could I get the lovely couple?" The waiter asked as soon as they took their seat.
Mia gave him a stupid grin, and he couldn't help but laugh a little.
"My boyfriend would like to buy us some pancakes filled with chocolate. And nuts. Bananas for him." She ordered as he nodded and left.
"Thank god my girlfriend knows what I want. Too bad she can't make any of it by herself." He continued with their little joke.
They have been confused as a couple so many times that it just became a running joke between them. They were always together. They lived together, went to school together and hung out together. Alex was always more likable than Mia, but Mia was funnier and more entertaining. Both of them did make friends pretty easily, well, make buddies rather. But because of that sole reason of being together too much, they became too friendly with each other. Almost brother-sisterly. Who would date their brother or sister?
"I don't have the patience to cook my fake boyfriend meals." She answered sarcastically.
Her leg was shaking beneath the table, something she had a frequency to do often. She could never sit still, she always had to do something.
"Impatience isn't the same as laziness, Mia." He told her, trying to sound wise but only made her look at him with a dissatisfied face.
Just as she wanted to say something smart, the food came and she got distracted. Somehow pancakes never seemed to make her bored, but maybe because she didn't eat them regularly. Alex felt happy to see her in a good mood. She was always so weird at Adrien's place and in school. He'd often forget just how fun she could be when they were outside, just being relaxed and free.
"Are we gonna go find the movies now?" Mia questioned after a couple of minutes, but it felt like seconds to Alex.
She already ate all three pancakes, while he was still eating his first. He sighed. He forgot she did that often. Then she'd jump around and feel annoyed at how sick she'd feel. She'd also hate to admit that she did feel sick.
"You need to stop eating so quickly, Mia." His immediate scolding response made Mia grumble.
"I told you I don't feel like eating that long." She told him as she looked around, already feeling like she was wasting time waiting for him.
He sighed. His prediction for the rest of the day was clear. As soon as he finished and she went outside, she looked reborn again. Jumping around and asking if he could buy this or that. They were gonna make a lot of stops in this street before going to the actual shop they were actually aiming for.
"I like this side of the district the most." She smiled as she looked at the odd puzzle set she got from Alex in excitement.
"The only one that has colors in it." He agreed, enjoying when she had enough energy to beat him.
She jumped around, talking to random people in the street, asking them to help her solve the odd puzzle she had. She went from shop to shop, looking at the different things they had on sale. From technological stuff to the ones that have books. She was interested in literally everything, but as soon as he'd get interested, she'd run out and get captivated by something else.
"Al, I found the shop that we were looking for!" She told him in excitement.
Even though it was their final destination, he felt a bit depressed their little adventure had to come to an end. He didn't see her in such a good mood in a while and for it to end so quickly sounded depressing. He wished she could stay so happy forever. Mia and him could be happy together then.
Before Alex could tell her to go check it out with him, she was already inside, talking to the man on the counter. The shop had rather odd stuff. Things he'd never seen before at all. All of them were labeled by era's. He felt so dumb he never discovered this shop before. It would have came in handy in the past. He cursed himself. He spent way too much time trying to find that Tamagotchi.
Alex decided to swallow his fuck up and actually try to solve the problem at hand. He went to the section of the 1990's. He found a lot of movies, but he didn't know which ones to take. He took out the money Adrien gave him. Well, he didn't know if Adrien would be mad if he got everything they had in offer.
"Oh! This looks cool! And this! Oh this too!" Mia started picking them up quickly.
"Mia, Mia, Mia!" He yelled, trying to get her attention before she went off and bought it without his consent.
"Huh?" She looked at him in confusion.
"We should look at what she'd want." Alex explained to her calmly.
She looked at him with thoughtful face.
"Why can't we just buy everything here?" She questioned.
"I don't know if Adrien will be mad..." He looked down at the floor with his light yellow eyes.
"This is Adrien we're talking about." That sentence would always make him agree.
"Ah, yeah, true. We're buying everything." He nodded, agreeing that one of Adrien's main characteristics was indeed extremism.
He carried everything out of the shop, feeling like he needed to do it and not Mia. He still wanted to be a gentleman, even if Mia wasn't exactly a gentle woman. As soon as they went outside, he noticed Mia being quiet and holding her arms over her stomach, as if she was hugging herself. He sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Mia, do you feel sick?" He questioned her, somehow in a smartassy voice because he just knew this would happen.
"No... I'm just tired." She answered, looking a bit annoyed.
He could only laugh and shake his head at her. As much as she could be an idiot sometimes, he still loved spending time with her. He really didn't want this to change.
