As we approached the venue, we already heard fans singing our songs and screaming our names. We drove past them all waiting to get in and holding signs. We all held and squeezed each other's hands, still awestruck that people came out to see us. I remember our first gig at some small bar in downtown Pittsburgh, where there was maybe 50 people and now there's like thousands upon thousands people from a completely different state, coming out to see us perform. We got into the dressing rooms with no hassle, because our fans respected our space. While the girls and I got pumped up before the show and practice, the boys sat in a separate room for VIP so they could get to their seats soon. Daisy sat in the corner with headphones in, playing on her practice pads, since she was always ready before all of us. Our hairdresser, Wanda, started curling my hair for the show as Tasia changed into a crop top and acid wash overall shorts and Lycia put on a superhero cut off and some black shorts. My hair was done and I tied a bandana I stole from Ash over my curls and changed into a black skull crop top and destroyed high waisted shorts.
Daisy got up from her drums so we could do our pre-show "Let's fucking rock!!" We put our hands in and chanted.
We walked out of the dressing room, ready to go on stage, while we walked, we did last minute tweaks like Lycia putting a snapback on-which I'm sure I saw Calum wearing the other day-, and adjusting our shorts and putting our earplugs in. I was trying not to be anxious and shaky, because Ash was gonna see me perform tonight, so it had to be perfect. Ahead of me, I saw the girls whispering about something.
"Hey!!! I wanna know the secret!" I pleaded, as I caught up to them.
"Oh it's just um, me and Cal, are a...uhh..thing now." Lycia stuttered.
"Finally." I giggled as we made our way to the side stage. We all made our way on stage, one by one.
"All right guys! Before we start our show tonight, I'd like to invite someone on stage." Daisy said as the crowd screamed. I turned to look at her confused. "Ashton Irwin!! Would you please come up on stage next to your girlfriend." She pointed with her drumsticks to Ash as he climbed up the front of the stage.
I looked at the girls, like what are you guys doing? I didn't know this was happening.
Ashton grabbed my microphone off of the stand. "Lyric Carlile, you are the love of my life, and I don't want to ever lose you. You are the reason I wake up in the morning, and the reason I sleep well at night. I want to be with you for the rest of my life." Tears started pricking at my eyes as my hands covered my face. "Will you do me the honor of being my Mrs. All American? Will you marry me, Lyric?" He got down on one knee and held up a ring in a box.
I lifted him up off his knees and looked him in the eyes. "Ashton Irwin, I have been waiting to hear those words for so long. I cannot wait to start a life with you. Of course I will marry you!"
His eyes lit up like the Fourth of July and he pulled me in for a kiss. As he slipped the ring on my finger, the crowd cheered and applauded. He hugged me to his chest and I saw the everyone standing by Daisy's drumset, recording this on their phones. Lycia, Tasia, and Daisy were crying while the boys were whooping and hollering.
"Alright! Well as I told Ashton earlier, we have a crowd to entertain and a set list to do, so get your sappy ass off stage!" Tasia said into her mic. He threw his hands up in surrender and him, Luke, Mikey, and Cal got off stage.
"Alright Ohio!! Let's blow the damn roof off this place!!" I said.
"Wait wait wait, it is also Lyric's 19th birthday, today!" Lycia screamed at the crowd. "Sing it with me-" the crowd started singing happy birthday along while Daisy strikes a soft beat on her drums.
