Today wasn't that bad

(Ashton's POV)

"Thanks for coming over short notice, bro." I greeted Mike as we walked into the living room.

"No problem. You said it was important. So what's up?"

"You're one of Lyric's best friends right?" He nodded, chugging down some beer. "And you're one of my best friends. I need a way to really sweep her off her feet. I just don't know how."

"Dude. You can't see? You already do." His words hit me. Do I really? I just love her more than anything. He could tell I was puzzled. "We all aim to be as perfect as you guys. You both care about each other so much. She looks at you like you put the stars in the sky, or something." I paused, resonating in his words. "I just figured you knew since you are always staring at her."

"Please help? I'm desperate. I really wanna catch her attention. Especially with everything going on right now." I pleaded and Michael agreed to help.

(Calum's POV)

Michael rung me and Luke to come help Ashton with some big grand scheme thing. They asked me to go to the store and pick up a bunch of food. I guess I'm okay with this. After all, I needed non-intoxicating things to distract myself. Our walk through the store was pretty quiet.

Ashton's birthday was a couple days away and we were gonna throw a big party to celebrate. I'm not sure how I will be by then either.

I grabbed all of the stuff and headed to a check out. "You are quite the ladies' man, aren't ya, sonny?" I jerked my head up to notice the lady was talking to me.

"Ohhh...umm....it's complicated." I scratched the back of my neck as she scanned the cake, roses, and various other things Ashton ordered me to purchase. Luke was waiting in the car as I got all the bags.

She winked at me, "You don't have to explain to me. Whoever it is, they're lucky."

Lucky. That's the song that Alicia sang to me at prom. The one I ruined. The night everything went wrong. I hurriedly paid and got out. I shut my eyes, trying to block out the bad decisions I had made.

"You okay, mate?" Luke asked as he pulled out of the car park.

"Yeah..'m good." We drove back to Ashton's house

(Ashton's POV)

Ashton: you
Lyric: me
Ashton: im taking you somewhere when you get home
Lyric: okay, what should we wear
Ashton: no, just you. whatever you wore out of the house today will be good
Lyric: ugh where and why
Ashton: it's a surprise and because I want to
Ashton: we haven't done anything just the two of us in awhile
Lyric: really? I can think of a few things we did just the other night
Ashton: babe, please?
Lyric: but I'm poor..
Ashton: it's called a date dummy
Ashton: i pay for you
Lyric: you're poor too
Ashton: who said we were gonna even need money
Lyric: okay, I guess I'm excited
Lyric: only kidding love you bear
Ashton: love you too baby

(Lyric's POV)

We arrived at our first destination this morning. The zoo, one of Lycia's favorite places.

"OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT FUCKING KOALA?! SO DAMN ADORABLE! CAN WE TAKE IT?!" Lycia jumped on my back, obviously on a sugar high from I don't even know what.

"I hate you." I muttered as she finally started walking like a normal person.

"No you don't. You love me." She smiled widely as we finished venturing around.

It was about lunch time, so we went to a nearby pizza place and drove to the beach with our pizza. Ashton texted me as I made my way through two slices.
