CHAPTER 24

“[F/N]!” I couldn’t catch her from falling down the hill.

I ran down, saw them stopped at the end of the hill, seeing [F/N] is still fine but her clothes were all covered in mud. Still holding the boy in her arms, he was safe and not a stain on him.

“I’m glad I caught up.” she let’s go of the boy, leaving her panting from the run.

“[F/N], are you okay?” I came right after that.

“I’m fine.” she said, yet her arm seems to have a little scratch. Even her face was covered with mud. I stopped and took a bit of rest from the intense run.

“Don’t do that without knowing whats up ahead.” I sighed, taking my handkerchief from my pocket and wipe the mud on her face.

“Sorry.” she said to me and then she turn towards the boy. “Are you okay?”

“Yes.” the boy said as he nod. “Why did you save me?”

“Well, it’s natural for people to help other.” she answered with a smile.

“But I’m just a boy that you don’t even know and ran away from you.” the boy look down.

Kuro and I look at the boy, knowing what he meant. That’s the boy, [F/N] might have met when she left to check on what's up. After I thought that something will happen, [F/N] laughed.

“H--Hey! Why are you laughing!” the boy was angry that [F/N] was laughing at him.

“Sorry. Sorry.” [F/N] wipe the tear that fall out because of too much laughing. “But really? A reason like that would make me not want to help you?”

What she said was true, the boy was surprised by her respond. He knew that it’s stupid to ask why she save him even though what he had done was only a minor excuse.

“T-Th....” The boy stutter trying to say something.

“Hm~? What’s wrong?” [F/N] tilt her head, looking at the boy that's trying to say something.

“Thank you for saving me.” he said, a little blush came from his cheeks as he tried saying it.

“You're welcome.” she smiled to the boy. “By the way what’s you name?”

“Shin.” he answered.

“Nice to meet you. I’m [F/N] Shirota and that’s my brother, Mahiru.” She pointed at me. “The cat on his shoulder is Kuro.”

“Nice to meet you too, [F/N]. Mahiru and Kuro.” he was happy to say that.

“So.” I sat next to [F/N]. “What were you doing up at that tree?”

The boy hesitate at first but when [F/N] talked to him, he final tell us the reason why he climb up the tree. Knowing the truth, the boy (male adult) wanted to play outside (climb trees) and suddenly encounter Tsubaki. He didn't have the attention to fight but Tsubaki was quick at his hands. Already gripping his neck with full force.

“Tsubaki.” I was surprised to hear that name.

“What’s wrong, Mahiru?” she notice I said the name in a shock.

"He was there?" I asked and she nods. "Did he do something to you, [F/N]?" Asking again, that question was supposed to ask to the boy.

"I saw it, you know. Tsubaki was, without mercy, strangle him until he nearly fainted." She explained. [F/N] eyes were gentle as she looked at the boy in front of her. The boy notice her gaze and quickly stood up.

"Thank you again for saving me." Dusting off the dirt on his pants. He left running, [F/N] wanted to help him find his way home but as the boy took a quick glance at her from his shoulder, a wide smile was shown and made her stop.
