A day had passed since Xukun and Yanjun had been selected as each of their teams' centers. I was supposed to be rehearsing with the <Mack Daddy> team, but suddenly a woman from the staff called me.
"Zhu Lin, can you follow me, please?" She said.
"Guys, continue rehearsing. Chengcheng, make your moves sharper; Linong, focus on your expressions!" I told the boys before leaving.
"Did something happen?" I asked the woman as I followed her.
"No, don't worry, we just want you to record something for the final." She told me. "As you are here even though you were already expelled from the program and you are really close to the boys, we wanted you to record something for them, an encouraging message. You can tell them about your personal experience or whatever. Just something to cheer for them."
"Okay. Should I change into different clothes?" I asked her as I was wearing my training outfit.
"No, don't worry. It will make it look more natural and informal this way." She said.
We then finally arrived at the room I would be recording in and saw only a camera there with no people to control it.
"There will be no one with you here so that you can truly say whatever you want." She explained. "I'll leave now."
She then left and I sat down on the chair in front of the camera.
"Is this thing on?" I asked myself as I checked and saw the recording light on. "Apparently it is. If it isn't this is going to be embarrasing."
I then sighed and relaxed a bit before starting talking.
"Hello, boys! It's your one and only girl, Zhu Lin! Wait, scratch that. Hello, I'm your little sister Linlin. Unless for you, Justin. Hello!" I presented myself. "They told me to record a message to cheer you up for the final but I thruthfully don't know what to tell you. I don't want to say you will make it because some of you won't and giving false hope is useless. The only thing I can tell you is to work hard; to enjoy it. You all have the skills and the determination to make it to the top 9, so just give your best this one last time and leave the results up to fate.
"As someone who was kicked out of the program, I can now honestly tell you that life isn't over after the program; your dreams aren't over. During this time we all have improved a lot and that is something we must not ignore. The ones debuting will directly make their dream come true, but the rest of us can do the same too. Please, do not be discuraged if you don't make it. Not everything is winning a competition; you are not a number; you are not the votes you get. Each one of you have the ability to become China's top artists, so please work hard. You are all absolutely amazing.
"Let's remember the first day we were here, in this building. Do you remember? Pretty much none of you even noticed there was a girl sitting down one of those chairs as you were all too nervous to even care. That was the first time I met all of you. Well, except Qin Fen and Ziyi, but you get what I mean. That day we were all ranked according to what the mentors thought our skills were located. But, did the first and second rankings actually show our skills? Weren't Chengcheng , Qin Fen, Jeffrey, Zhenghao, Bufan, Ling Chao, Shengen, Xikan, Wenjun and Yanjun once in D or F? How come are you on the final now? Your hard work is what matters in the end. Work hard, boys. The rest of us will be cheering for you. You have your new 81 family members waiting for you. Good luck!"
I then realised a tear had fallen down and quickly wiped it off.
"Why am I even crying? This isn't the end of the world." I said out loud.
The girl from before then opened the door and saw me there crying.
"Are you okay? Why are you crying?" She asked me.
"It's just... I've grown so close to them that the thought of parting ways kills me. I wish I could be with all of them forever like a true family." I said and stood up. "I hope they all get to live their dreams..."
*****************
By the time I finished recording it was already quite late, so I went to the canteen to have dinner before I had to rehearse with the other team. When I arrived there, though, all of the boys from both teams were there too.
"I see you ran away fron rehearsals early." I told the <Mack Daddy> boys. "How did it go?"
"It went well. We focused on the things you told us." Xukun said.
"I'm glad to hear that." I said and picked up a tray.
Now that we were so few people, we could even hear each other even if one of us was at the opposite corner of the canteen. Back in the day we first came here that would have been impossible.
"Why did you leave, though?" Qingfen asked. "Did something happen?"
"No, don't worry. I just had to do something." I said and sat down on the table between Chengcheng and Justin.
"Are you okay?" Chengcheng whispered in my ear.
"Yes, why?" I said innocently.
"Your eyes are a little puffy." He said touching the area below my left eyes.
"I promise nothing happened." I reassured him. "I'm not lying to you."
Seeing my serious face, he decided to trust me and ended up the conversation there. We then continued eating all together while chatting with each other and even the normal conversations we had had a small tinge of anxiousness and nervousness to them.
The final was coming.
