After the birthday present, as I had cried quite a bit, I went back to the makeup room while PD continued presenting.
"My precious makeup!" Said the makeup artist who had done my makeup before the show began. "It's now all ruined!"
"Sorry..." I said as I sat down on the stool and she began working on it again.
"Don't worry, I get why you got teary. If that video were for me, I would have probably cried too!" She said and then quickly finished so that I could go back. "You are doing really well for a newbie. Keep up with the good work!"
"Thank you." I said bowing and left.
I then quickly ran through the corridor to go back on stage but someone suddenly pulled my arm, nearly making me fall.
"What-?" I said turning around but lips were placed on mine.
"Did you really thing I would just let you leave after what you did before?" Chengcheng said as he pulled away.
"Cheng, I have to go." I said looking towards the stage, where PD was talking to Yanlei, the last person in our script.
"Don't worry, this will just be a second." He said and grabbed both sides of my face and pulling me for a passionate kiss. Five seconds later, he pulled away. "You can now go. Don't worry, your makeup's fine."
"The voting lines are about to close." I told him. "Good luck!"
"Thank you. Oh, and happy birthday!" He said and kissed the back of my hand before I left.
"Welcome back, Linlin!" PD said as I went on stage and greeted all of them again. "You left me hanging here for quite a long time."
"Sorry, older brother of mine." I teased him and we both laughed. "Next up, I am going to announce that <Idol Producer>'s livestream voting channel is officially closed." I said. "Nine Percent's nine debuting members have emerged."
"Our staff are counting the final votes for each trainee. The results will be anounced soon." PD continued. "Before the results come out, atually, our trainees, coming this far, everyone has a promise or expectation in their hearts regarding their debut. Next up, let's reveal this answer together."
They then began playing the videos of the mirror interviews and family messages while PD and I went to the side of the stage to prepare to present the winning trainees.
"Should we each be in one side or both of us here?" I asked PD.
"You go on the right side, I'll be on the left." He said and I nodded, taking the new cards from the staff.
In there was the results of the winning trainees and I didn't know wether to look at it or just wait. I really wanted to see who had won, but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it to myself if I saw it.
"Why is this so stressing, gosh?!" I said sighing.
"Just look at it. It's better this way, believe me." He told me. "Just try to remain stoic, like I told you."
Taking his advice, I finally looked through the cards and saw the winning names. Feeling happy for some yet sad for others, I stacked them back together and went to my place as the videos were about to end. Just then, though, I heard Chengcheng's mom's voice.
"I also want you to present me that beautiful girl you are with in the show. If that lady kissed my Chengcheng she can't run away now." She said and I facepalmed. Did they really have to show that part? "I actually think she's a really nice lady who cares about you a lot so, even if it's just as friends, don't let her go, son."
I then heard PD laughing beside me and I sent him a death glare. Instead of stopping, though, he laughed even harder.
Then, though, the video I had recorded for the boys began playing and I wanted to dissappear. I thought they would only show it to them and not show it on the final.
"Hello, boys! It's your one and only girl, Zhu Lin! Wait, scratch that. Hello, I'm your little sister Linlin. Unless for you, Justin. Hello!" I presented myself in the video."They told me to record a message to cheer you up for the final but I thruthfully don't know what to tell you. I don't want to say you will make it because some of you won't and giving false hope is useless. The only thing I can tell you is to work hard; to enjoy it. You all have the skills and the determination to make it to the top 9, so just give your best this one last time and leave the results up to fate.
"As someone who was kicked out of the program, I can now honestly tell you that life isn't over after the program; your dreams aren't over. During this time we all have improved a lot and that is something we must not ignore. The ones debuting will directly make their dream come true, but the rest of us can do the same too. Please, do not be discuraged if you don't make it. Not everything is winning a competition; you are not a number; you are not the votes you get. Each one of you have the ability to become China's top artists, so please work hard. You are all absolutely amazing."
Looking at the side, PD was there looking at the screen intently. He then saw I was watching him and gave me a thumbs up and a reassuring smile which, even if it was a just a little, calmed me down.
"Let's remember the first day we were here, in this building. Do you remember? Pretty much none of you even noticed there was a girl sitting down one of those chairs as you were all too nervous to even care. That was the first time I met all of you. Well, except Qin Fen and Ziyi, but you get what I mean. That day we were all ranked according to what the mentors thought our skills were located. But, did the first and second rankings actually show our skills? Weren't Chengcheng , Qin Fen, Jeffrey, Zhenghao, Bufan, Ling Chao, Shengen, Xikan, Wenjun and Yanjun once in D or F? How come are you on the final now? Your hard work is what matters in the end. Work hard, boys. The rest of us will be cheering for you. You have your new 81 family members waiting for you. Good luck!"
I then looked at all the already eliminated boys and some of them gave me a big smile too, which made me feel proud.
Then, though, you could hear me crying and talking to the staff. I thought the camera had been off and no one would be seeing it, but damn was I wrong.
