WHEN TOBY GOT home from Trollmarket that afternoon, he didn't expect to find a fancy car in front of his house.

He narrowed his eyes, Warhammer ready to extend to full size instead of being a dinky little rod.

"Now, if you'll just sign here-"

"Nana?"

His Nana turned around to face him, "Toby-pie! There you are! I've been trying to explain to Mr. Wayne that you needed to read over all of this!"

Toby managed to keep his act up, because inside his blood stilled and went cold.

Darci and Claire had called to tell him what happened at the Scott home.

According to Darci's dad, he was getting people to sign up as homes to host exchange students.

Toby really hoped Nana didn't mention Arrrgh. He didn't have the patience to put up with this bullshit.

Jim had told Claire to let Eli and Steve in on it, so that was some extra muscle (though it be untrained (they're working on it)) and one and a half more brains in the mix (because Eli had to have an extra half of a brain he was so smart).

"And I still can't fully understand why." Wayne comments, sounding slightly amused, but Toby nearly narrowed his eyes as he heard the slight note of annoyance.

He settled on glaring, crossing his arms. "We had to go to court last year when some guy told Nana she was signing a petition when she was actually signing papers to sell the house to the guy. Ever since I've been reading through everything so no one can take advantage of her blindness again. Lemme see." Toby didn't wait for the papers to be handed over, instead grabbing them off the table and skimming through it. He looked up at Wayne once he finished, "I don't see any problems with it so far, but I'd prefer to look it over in more depth. I assume this isn't on a time restriction?" Toby's words were clipped and left no room for discussion.

"Actually, I need them back by next Thursday, but please, take all the time you need." He said as he stood, sounding charismatic and charming (which Nana fell for, cooing over it), but Toby narrowed his eyes as he saw the hint of frustration in Wayne's face.

"Lemme walk you out Mr. Wayne." Toby didn't wait for an answer; the squat boy grabbed the man by the elbow (with an amount of strength that he knew was surprising for someone his size) and dragged him to the door. With a dark look he said, "Say bye to my Nana, Mr. Wayne."

"Goodbye, Ms. Dumsalski," Wayne complies, a light note of shock and distress running through the charming tone. "We'll speak at a later date."

Toby practically throws him out of the house, shutting the door behind the two. He glowers at the man. "Stay away from Jim, child beater."
