WHEN STRICKLER GOT back that night to the Lake home, he bristled pleasantly when he saw the signed papers on the table. "Good," He murmurs happily. "The boy deserves to be happy." He wasn't sure to which boy he was referring. Strickler walked up the stairs to the guest room, knocking on the frame. "I'm glad to see you took up her offer. You all deserve to be happy." He congratulates calmly.
Connor stops unpacking his suitcase to shoot Strickler a strained smile. "Me, too... and thanks... for everything..."
Strickler blinks in surprise before nearly slapping himself for his stupidity, "Ah. So, Jim told you." Strickler muses as he sits on the edge of the bed a good distance from Connor.
Connor snorted, continuing to unpack. "We found a Troll whelp, he didn't really have a choice."
Strickler looks up in alarm-- "'We'?!"
Connor blinks in surprise (so much like his brother) before saying, "Megan and me. We were on patrol when we found one."
Strickler opened his mouth in a silent 'oh'.
"...Should I start calling Dr. Lake 'mom'...? I-is it too early?" Connor asked quietly, a shirt hanging limply off his fingers.
A tiny, rueful smile makes its way across his face. "She'll be positively delighted... and positively pissed you didn't sooner."
