JIM WAS HAVING a panic attack.

There was no other way to describe it.

And Connor felt horrible.

"Jim, calm down. M'gann and I can take over the night shifts--"

"And make your friends suspicious!"

"--And I can say that I'm having problems sleeping!"

"What about Megan?!"

"It's common knowledge that she'll stay up with me, they won't question i--"

"Dick?! Kaldur?! Artemis and Wally?! They won't question it?!!" Jim demands as he paces, fretting.

"It's Robin's job to question everything," Connor deadpans, arms crossed, pushing his panic down like you push down upcoming vomit. "Kaldur will be curious but will most likely chalk it up to M'gann and I wanting some alone time. We're close.  And introverts. He wouldn't question it."

"Wally?! Artemis?!" Jim demands again.

"Won't notice anything. They're good, not that good."

"That would hurt their feelings," Jim mutters under his breath nervously, still shaking, now shifting from foot to foot.

Connor snickered, though not loudly. With Jim this irritable, it was best that loud noises were kept to a minimum, in his experience. "That's true," he agreed, "but I'm also right."

Jim finally begins to calm some. "What if it's some civilian though?"

"M'gann could lock their memories away," Connor suggests. "I don't think she's entirely comfortable with it, but she's shown that she weighs the needs of the many over the needs of the few."

Jim hesitates. "...I don't want to make your girlfriend uncomfortable, man-- that's just wrong."

Connor began spluttering, face turning into a beet. "Sh-she's not my girlfriend!" He squeaked, voice cracking on the last word.

Jim's face broke into a grin as he began cackling at his brother's red face.

Connor couldn't help but smile at that... even if it was at his expense...
