THE TACOS WERE delicious and Connor was a perfect gentleman, riding with her back to Eli's house, where the boy sat on the steps working on something that was bound to be some theory that would be scarily accurate about aliens. Since the boy never seemed to have anyone else to share his theories with (Jim would be politely interested and Steve would pretend he wasn't having onto every word, but other than that, everyone seemed slightly uncomfortable with the idea of aliens even though they're a proven fact of life), he would often end up sharing them with M'gann as a side effect.
M'gann took in a deep breath as they stopped, her cheeks scarlet, head ducking down. "Well... um... th-thanks-- f-for lunch."
Connor flushed redder than before, his head turning barely an inch, but his eyes stayed on her. "N-no problem."
M'gann smiled awkwardly before waving even more awkwardly and rushing inside, practically flying, dragging Eli after her, eliciting a yelp from the poor boy. She slammed the door shut behind her, face bright red, heart pounding in her chest. "...I think I like Connor." She squeaks out.
Eli lights up. "Really? He seems nice! And you two are cute together!"
It took all of M'gann's shapeshifting abilities to keep herself from blushing harder. Instead, she cleared her throat only to squeak out, "You think?"
Eli beams, nodding so fast and vigorously that his glasses started bouncing off his nose, a true feat. [A/N: All my fellow glasses wearers, can I get an 'AMEN'.] "I think he really likes you, Megan!"
A giddy, red smile blooms across M'gann's face as she squeals slightly, giggling before clearing her throat (properly this time) and looking at Eli with a slightly smug look (though it was still mostly giddy). "So..." She says slowly, "tell me about you and Steve..."
Eli jumps, face the color of a radish now. "Wh-whaa..?!"
"Oh, don't deny it! You two are totally gay for each other!"
"W-well..." Eli stammers softly, staring at the ground, rubbing an elbow. "I-I know I am for him, but..."
"Is he gay for you?" M'gann finishes the question with a sigh, understanding exactly what his fear was. The two sat in an understanding silence. 'No!' Her mind hissed at her, 'Stop! You're going to betray them all in the end!' But M'gann couldn't help but become attached to her housemate. Eli was kind, considerate, and even though he theorized about them, a good portion of his theories ended with a lamentation about how he felt bad that majority of the aliens on Earth didn't seem to have any family left, whether it be because of where they were or they had passed. In the end, Eli ha become a bit of a staple in her life-- he was that one friend that even though you didn't talk to them often, you knew that he'd be there the split-second you needed him.
M'gann shook the thought from her mind before saying, "I think you should go for it."
Eli's head shot up. "W-what?!"
M'gann blushed a bit, tucking some hair behind her ear. "Yeah. Ask Jim to help. He and the others pretty much left us to our own devices past being in the same area, so you'll have privacy, but you'll also have some moral support... I think you should do it. Ask him out."
Eli thinks for a moment before lighting up, "O-okay!"
