[A/N: Happy Easter, everyone!]

CLAIRE GESTURED FOR M'gann to come over to her when she saw her Monday morning. She leaned in, whispering. "Don't be surprised to see Connor acting like an excited two-year-old on his birthday."

M'gann's slightly confused expression quickly became bewildered as she shot back to look Claire in the eye.

And that's when Connor flounced down the steps with this smugly pleased expression like he got something he barely knew wanted, never expected to get, and then got it within two months of wanting it.

He flounced around, dropping everyone's lunch in their hands, each person as gobsmacked at his behavior as M'gann.

//...Connor...? Are you okay...?//

//I'm getting adopted by the Lakes!//

M'gann's head swirled with worries, whether it be if Connor would still be allowed to be on the team, if they'd still be this close-- so many-- but above all, she was happy. //That's fantastic, Connor! Congratulations!//

Connor's smug look then became clearer for her to read-- he wasn't smug-- he was proud. He had earned himself a family in his mind.

M'gann would have to talk to Jim and Dr. Lake about getting that stupidity out of his head-- you don't earn a family. That's something preordained by fate itself. Family didn't end, nor start with blood, and sometimes you needed to experience it to learn it.

She'd also have to ask if he would be allowed to continue being apart of the team, or at the very least, keep in contact with her.

The Lakes didn't seem like the type to make someone cut off connections, but after what the League has put them through, they may feel it be for the best.

Strickler seemed to sense these thoughts, because when she got to school, he managed to slip her a note rather inconspicuously.

Calm down. Barbara and I have already discussed it and we both agreed that Connor should not only allowed, but encouraged to continue with your little team of protégées. However, we will leave whether or not he changes schools up to him.

M'gann's worries melted away.

Connor wasn't disappearing.

Her best friend wasn't leaving.

He'd still be right there, adjusting to modern culture right with her.

Relief flooded through her-- and then she got back to work, smiling along the way.
