Chapter 10.

Sick & Guilty

[Adam POV]

Her small body feels unresponsive, her hand dangling as I carry her inside of the house and my feet go straight to our bedroom on the second floor.

I put her slowly on the bed and put the blanket on top of her. I take her hands and rubs it with my hands hoping to make it warmer. My iPhone inside the pocket rings and I see Sara's name before sliding to pick it up.

"I've found her. Come to the house quick!"

I cut Sara off before she could say anything but she immediately replies "On it!" and cut the call.

Please open your eyes Nea.

I place my hands to her cheeks and the coldness is still there. I reach out to the remote controller to raise the temperature and then hold her hands to keep warming it up.

I heard the front door opens and Sara's voice along with Leia and the guys.

"Up here!"

All of them get in the room to see the situation where Nea's lying unconscious, her lips turn a bit blue and her face is pale.

"What the heck happened?"

Leia quickly pushes me away to check on Nea since she's a doctor in training. Sara also moves to Nea's side to help Leia.

"I found her outside 15 minutes ago, near the garage. She's already unconscious then"

I explain to Leia while rubbing my hands together, worries keep building in my heart.

Leia touches Nea's body to check up and she's shocked.

"Holys***! How long has she been outside? Her body temperature totally drops and not to mention her almost soak clothes."

She shot a glare at me and go to smack me on my shoulder. The boys totally avoiding me.

"You couldn't even change her clothes than to let her stay in those!"

"I panicked, okay? So now what?"

"I can't prescribe her any meds, you need to call Dr. Galagher."

Sara beat me to it "I've informed him, he's on his way"

I nod and say thanks to Sara quietly. She just smiles softly.

"Out! All of you."

Leia suddenly shoves me and the boys out of the room.

"Why?" I innocently ask and tries to get inside.

"We need to change her to dryer clothes. Or you prefer to do it yourself?"

I can sense that all of them are smirking at me and heat crept from my neck and make me blush. I scratch my neck and shake my head slowly.

"Do it for me and.. thanks Lei"

She makes a teasing face and shut the door. I let out a little sigh and someone pats my shoulder.

"Let's wait for Dr. Galagher downstairs"

I look at them, Alex and the other boys smile before we go downstairs to the living room. After a moment, Dr. Galagher arrives and goes straight to check up on Nea. I and the boys wait in the living room while the girls up in the room.

"She'll be fine"

Lucas says as he senses that I worries are building up, inside. I shot up quickly as I saw Dr. Galagher and Leia at the stairs.

"How's she?"

"She'll be fine. I've put drips and prescribe the medicine, so make sure she takes it accordingly."

Dr. Galagher explains and shakes my hand as He walks out of the house.

I let out a big sigh and plop to the couch behind me. I rub my face a little and I feel like some eyes are on me.

All of them are looking at me with a smile on their faces. I brush it off and walk away before I yell.

"I'm going to check on Nea"

Stupid friends.

I see Sara puts wet clothes on Nea's head as I sit next to her.

"She's feverish. But she'll be okay so no need to worry much."

Sara turns around to look at me and smiles. She pats me on my shoulder before she walks out of the room leaving me alone with Nea.

I touch her cheek to feel that her temperature is higher than before. I tuck the blanket properly to her and hold her hand, tracing her ring finger as I whisper.

"I'm sorry that I'm late"

I fell asleep next to her and her mumbling in sleep wakes me up. I rub my eyes to look at the clock on the table lamp, 2.30 AM.

I take the clothes on her forehead which totally dry due to her fever and goes to change it. As I come back, she's sitting on the bed. I run to her side and sit in front of her.

"Hey, how are you feeling?"

"Mum?"

She thought I'm her mum? It seems the fever totally makes her out of it.

I try to give her the meds, it has been a few hours since I give her before. She suddenly hugs me tightly and I automatically put my hands up.

"Umm, Nea, It's me Adam.."

"I miss you soo much.."

Her voice is totally low as if she's whispering but I heard her. Her soft sobbing makes my guilty feelings higher than before.

My hands slowly lower down to her back, patting and making a circle to make her at ease, slowly.

She falls back to sleep soon after. I slowly lay her back to the bed and put the wet clothes back to her forehead. Her tears slip out of her closed eyes, I rub it softly near her temple.

There's a warm feeling inside of me while looking at her. Somehow I didn't feel sleepy anymore. I feel like I want to fix everything at that moment. I don't want to make her cry again. We've been married for a week only but it's like I've only managed to make her cry.

Sara's and Emily's words engraved in my mind.

"Anyway, try okay? Try harder. I believe she will open up soon. She's fragile, Adam."

"Be happy Adam, you deserve it. And, make her happy, she deserves it too."

I look at Nea's face and I touch her face, rubs my thumb slowly.

"Let's be happy, Nea"
