Forty Six & 2 by Tool pumped through the earbuds in my ears as my feet pounded the pavement-leading me down the sidewalks of the city. Taking the all too familiar path I had been taking for the past 2 years since moving here. The sweat that cascaded down my body letting me know that the pace I was currently leading was doing it's job. Stopping at an intersection waiting on the "Walk" sign to flash, I glanced down at my watch and saw that it was nearing 6 in the morning. The weather at this time wasn't too hot just yet, but the sun was shining down on the brand new day that was upon me, and it made me smile as I saw the sign light up, letting me know I could continue on my way. I continued on my path, making my way back towards the suburb I had started from, were my home laid in the quiet neighborly community of Gate Springs. Tucked away in the peaceful mountain valleys of Colorado. A place where a younger version of myself would cringe at the thought of settling down and living what I thought to be normal. But as you age things change I suppose.
I came to a stop outside of the gate of the community, giving a small smile and wave to the guard on duty as a large grin spread across his face. The gate opened and I continued on my way, running down the street. My long pony tail smacked at my back, as the burn in the back of my calves let me know I was nearly done with this cardio workout. The familiar numbers came into my view as I slowed to a stop, breathing heavily. 1532 stood out in big bold black numbering on the mailbox, letting me know I had made it to my home. I turned, walking up the driveway, pulling the earbuds out of my ears as I looked at the beautiful home in front of me.
Two story, beautiful white Victorian style home. It stood out more than any home in this community because it had been built for my pleasing. Even though I thought it to be extreme, Kaiser dismissed my feelings saying whatever I wanted I would have. Anything to keep me at his side. The yard was huge, filled with gorgeous rose bushes of every color which was kept to perfection by the on hand gardeners of the community. The backyard held a huge pool with the adjoined hot tub that over looked the beautiful mountains. The inside was just as gorgeous as the outside with all wooden floors, with the exception of two bedrooms upstairs. The kitchen was done up in everything stainless steal with marble counter tops. Top of the line everything was inside that house. Everything to keep any woman happy, but in all actuality there was no happiness inside me as much as I pretended I was.
"Babe?!" I heard the sound of my husbands voice as he descended the steps.
I glanced up and smiled as my eyes landed on the man in front of me. Kaiser Brooks was a very handsome man and he gave me all that I would ever require in this lifetime and more. He was a hard working gentle soul, a very kind man who showed respect to all that crossed his path. I had crossed his path over 6 years ago and even though at first I thought him to be the tight ass, stuck up corporate type- when I finally gave him a chance 3 years ago he proved to me that looks are deceiving. He stood a few inches taller then my 5'4' height, his tattoo's hidden under his clothes, and the most piercing blue eyes I had ever glanced into. His face was defined and even though he didn't work out, he was far from out of shape.
"Good morning." I smiled as he stopped in front of me, leaning up on my tip toes to peck his waiting lips.
"How was the run?" he asked, patting me playfully on my ass.
"Refreshing." I sighed as I turned, following him into the kitchen, knowing he was headed to collect his morning coffee. "So, what will you be doing today?"
"Well, I told you about my conference calls with Shane over the past few weeks." He replied, pouring the hot brown liquid into his waiting coffee mug. "I am having a video conference call with him, Uncle Vince and the board this morning to see if we can come up with a way to settle this deal with Saudi Arabia to host one of the pay-per-views. If all goes according to how I'm hoping, Uncle Vince will probably be flying me out to headquarters to work up the paperwork."
