Chapter 45
Jenny's POV:
I go to Jay's room to see if she is feeling better. I knock on the door and open it without a response.
"Hey, it's me." I say as she smiles when she realizes it's not Dad.
"Oh, hi." She says as my phone beeps. It's Jason.
"It's Jason." I say. Her face was turning red when she realizes I was texting her boyfriend.
"Why are you texting MY boyfriend?" She emphasizes 'my'.
"He gave me his number. We're only friends. I don't like him like that." I say, meaning every word of it.
"Okay." She saids, completely trusting me. Should I tell her that Dad hit me? He didn't mean too. But, could it escalate beyond that if I told her? What would he do to me? Why am I having all these thoughts? Dad would never hurt me! Then again, he did slap me.
"Dad slapped me." I blurted out, not knowing it came out of my mouth. Why the hell did I say that?!
"WHAT?!" Jay screamed, jumping out of bed in one quick motion. The scream alerted Mom and Dad to come to her room with scared expressions and frantically searching for anything of danger. When Jay saw Dad, she snapped.
"HOW COULD SLAP AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD YOU ASSHOLE!" She screamed, her arms waiting to defend her since I had taught her a few things. We stood there frozen. Mom looked at Dad terrified. Mom came racing toward me, hugging me so tight that it would cut off my airways, crying into my shirt.
