Sixth year. Harry, Ron and Hermione's fourth year. This would be the most interesting part of the story.... Almost. To find the proper beginning of this year, we'll start where everyone else did, The Quidditch World Cup. How original, huh? But it's fitting. You'll soon see why.
I had spent all summer up in my bedroom, reading and writing letters with Fred. We weren't exactly dating as one might say, but we spent a lot of time together, even though I hadn't kissed him since the time when I regained my memory. It had been a little weird to talk about, but we typically avoided it. We had all been so hyped for the World Cup at the end of summer. We had talked about all summer, mentioning it in nearly every letter. I had taken a trip to Diagon Alley and found everything I needed from every store.
At Flourish & Blotts, I found my new textbooks, along with some new reading material for my own time, Madam Malkin's for dress robes (which happened to be a very pretty dress, in my case), Gambol & Japes - the joke shop - obviously, Magical Menagerie for another owl, since mine had passed away earlier that summer, Stalls for some sweets, Slug & Jiggers Apothecary for potion ingredients, and Quality Quidditch Supplies for a new broom, which will be mentioned later.
Fred,
I am overly excited to see you and the rest of the family for the World Cup this weekend. I bet it is going to be loads of fun. See you soon, Freddie.
With love,
El"You know who to send this to, Celestia," I said to my new black owl, who I had sent messages to Fred with all summer. Celestia took the note and, with me giving her a quick and light stroke of her head, flew out of the window and towards the Burrow. After a few hours, and reading a tiny response from Fred, I jumped to my feet threw open my closet door, looking over all of my pre-purchased robes and brown paper packages.
I took all of my clothes and packages out of the closet, laying them all on my bed in neat piles. I knelt down and peeked under my bed, reaching for the maroon and gold trunk I kept stored underneath it. I grabbed hold of the handle and pulled it out with a quick thrust, heaving the large object onto my bed. I undid the latches and opened it, beginning to fold my robes and clothes. After I finished packing, I sat down and read one of my new books from Flourish & Blotts.
A light knock on my bedroom door had startled me. "Who is it?"
"It's me," Mum replied. "There are some people at the door here to see you."
I marked my page and closed my book, throwing it back into my trunk. I knew exactly who was at the door. I put Celestia back in her cage and put all of my Daily Prophet clippings along with some other things into a tiny backpack. I took all of my belongings downstairs to find the entire Weasley family waiting in the sitting room. I set my things next to the sofa and threw my arms around my best friend. I let go of him and smiled.
"Hey Ellie," Fred said. He had too many nicknames for me that I had finally lost count. I ruffled his hair a little.
"Hey Freddie," I replied as Fred used his hand to put his hair back to its original position.
"So this is the infamous Fred," Dad said, stepping into the room. Fred suddenly looked nervous, and I had a bit of a gut-wrenching feeling that something would go wrong. My dad had assumed we were dating, considering how much I had talked about him all summer, but we were never official. Then he stepped forward and outstretched his hand to Fred. "Adam Baker."
"Fred Weasley," Fred shook my dad's hand, and added a smile, making my dad smile back. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."
"What manners," Dad complimented. He looked to Mr. Weasley and shook his hand too. He got names from all of the Weasley's, even Harry and Hermione, who I didn't even notice were here until now. Fred and I exchanged big smiles, seeing that my dad had approved of him so far.
My mum entered from the kitchen, seeing the entirety of the family that had come inside. "Oh, please, make yourselves right at home. I'll get a pot of tea going." Everyone found themselves a spot in the sitting room. Mum served the adults -including Percy, Bill and Charlie - tea, while I led Fred, George, Ron, Ginny, Harry and Hermione upstairs. I had the whole upstairs to myself, meaning my parents were never up there and everything they needed was downstairs.
I showed them a spare room with a collection of my school books, a tv set up with a gaming console, a shelf covered in movies and video games. Seeing as most of them had no clue what a Play Station was, they were very much intrigued. Next, I brought them to my room.
They explored it for a while, questioning me about all the muggle "artifacts" I had kept in there. Finally, Mr. Weasley called us back downstairs. We all scurried down the stairs, finding everyone ready to leave.
"Bye Mum, bye Dad," I said, giving each of my parents a hug.
"Have fun, darling," Mum said. "Don't get into any trouble, please."
"No promises," I smiled, glancing at Fred without her noticing.
"Take good care of her, Fred," Dad said to him.
"I will, sir," Fred replied, shaking Dad's offered hand once more.
Dad looked back to me. "Stay safe, Elizabeth. Have fun and keep your grades up. You've got to be prepared for your O.W.L.s this year. Okay?"
"Yes, Dad," I answered. "I'll see you at Christmas."
I grabbed my stuff and stood with the Weasley's. We all held onto each other as we disapperated to the Burrow. Well, home sweet home.
