Elizabeth's POV

I opened my eyes at last, to find myself in total darkness. I held my arms out, feeling around for something, anything. I felt metal. Cold metal. I felt it all around me. I couldn't feel anything above my head, so I stood up. "Hello?!?"

"It's no use, kid," A voice from in front of me said. "I've tried, no one can hear you from down here."

"Professor Moody?" A light glowed from the tip of a wand, showing a ragged man with wrinkles etched on his face - unless they were scars - along with one brown eye, the other seemingly missing. His hair was a darker, dirtier blonde, and he was dressed in stained thermal clothes. He was missing a leg, too.

"The real one, yes," He replied.

"The real one? What-... No, you petrified me and threw me in here-"

"I didn't. He did. Barty Crouch Junior. He's running around the castle wearing my skin. Polyjuice potion. He put you down here. Me too." Moody didn't look at me once when he said all of it. He couldn't take his eyes away from the floor.

"Barty Cr-.... He works for You-Know-Who, does he not?" I asked the real Moody, who only nodded. He didn't seem to want to talk much. "Isn't there any way to get out of here?" He shook his head no. I sighed at sat back down. I felt something in my pocket. My wand! I pulled it out of my pocket and held it up. "Lumos Maxima." The entire space lit up nice and bright. I saw that it was very small, but with a great height. I sighed and whispered, "Nox."

I slumped down against the wall, just as Alastor had been. "Do you know why he threw you down here?"

"What?"

"You. Why did he put you down here with me? There must be a reason to pick you specifically," Alastor said. "Besides, why would he want anyone to learn the truth?"

"I have no idea," I replied. "I barely even know you - well, fake you - and there's not a thing I could think of that would be a reason. Other than one thing...."

"And that is?"

"It's a little far fetched, but it could be that I'm a muggle born. I know You-Know-Who hates muggles and muggle borns, so I couldn't see why that wouldn't be a reason."

"Fair enough," he said in a whisper.

I got to thinking in that moment. What could possibly get us out of here? Surely there had to be a way out, if there's a way in. I waved my wand again, creating light.

"What are you doing?"

"Finding a way out." I stood up quickly.

"I already told you, there is no way out."

"There's always a way out." I saw a small handle towards the very top if where ever we were or whatever we were in. I braced my self and pointed my wand upwards. "Accendio." I flew up towards the top and grabbed onto the bar, using all of my strength to hold myself up.

"How are you going to get down, genius?" Moody mocked me as I hung there for dear life.

I felt around for whatever was there, my wand illuminating the space around me as I held it in my mouth. I felt that it was like a lid on top. I pushed up on it, but it wouldn't budge. I gave up trying after a minute or two, losing strength in my arms to hold me up there any longer.

I let go, nearly hitting the ground before calling out the words, "Arresto Momentum!" I stopped right above the ground for a second, then hit my stomach with a thump. I sat back in my spot against the wall, panting, out of breath.

"What'd I tell you?"

"There's always a way out," I repeated.
