In comparison to sam, Eman's talk with Farhan, her cousin who was studying engineering at university, went entirely in the opposite direction.
There was something about him that brought all of her walls down, a confession that drew her closer and closer to him. They had known each other long before either admitting any feelings for one another so Eman wasn't sure if their closeness was a product of their friendship or deeper feelings.
That was before he proposed to her and she lost the ability to think. As he listened to his feelings on the phone, she was able to acknowledge all the feelings she had held deep within her heart leaving her speechless.
She still remembers the first time they met after the proposal, the moment engrained in her mind.
The moon was hiding...the sun started to open its doors one by one. Eman could hear someone coming down the stairs to meet her, but time was passing so slowly. With each step he took, it grew harder and harder for her heart to handle the anticipation as she waited.
As news of his arrival reached her ears, her heart began to beat uncontrollably in her chest. All she could hope was that time would continue to run slow once they met, but it didn't.
At first she couldn't look at him, her tongue unable to speak the words her tongue wishes she could say. When he finally stopped in front of her, it seemed like the whole world stopped. Talking about everyday things wasn't enough, but soon their meeting ended. All she was left with the wind he created with his departure playing with her shawl as they both wished deep in their hearts that they could meet again under different circumstances.
Second meeting
During their second meeting, they both stood at a book fair booth where she tried not to stare at him, despite how attractive he was. Each time her eye left his face, her heart tried to pull her back begging to get closer. It took every ounce of courage and faith in God to keep her eyes from returning, but deep down she knew shaytan's influence would attract her towards him time and time again.
With each prayer, she knew there would be no change in her feelings because her attraction to him was far too strong. What was it about him that caused her to feel this way? She had never had feelings like this for anyone else, not even for Sameer. These uncontrollable urges scared her, especially after the last few times. From that point on, she tried not to think about him, but with every passing day, her helplessness increased, and then she put her kneels down.
Unknown to her, Farhan left the same, that there was something about her that made him weak and wasn't someone he could easily dismiss.
Typically, Eman liked men who were never weak, but got angry quickly or were humble equally. Because she felt such men were strong in mind and body. They didn't put their hearts in front of anyone, They were woman's protector. Farhan, however, wasn't like such men that she liked. He never got angry or humble. He had complete contradiction to them. But despite this difference, she felt she cannot be separated from him.
Finally, Eman accepted the reality.
As they continued to talk on the phone from the last thirty minutes, Farhan suddenly ended the call without warning. Eman tried to call him back, his phone was switched off.
As time stretched on without a word from him, she grew worried. Luckily, he soon called her back and informed her that he had spilt acid on his hand, and his phone had switched off when he dropped it.
Her mind was no longer on her side, having left her in her panic, On her face, it was like the sky had dropped, causing tears to stream from her eyes, as her heart shattered and reformed, a few spilling onto her cheeks. The water coming out from her eyes was drifting from his face. Her hand trembled.
" I love you...I love you soo much," Eman said, barely getting the words out through the tears in the back of her throat.
Farhan was silent, not understanding, What was happening? And what to do?
