Don't be with someone who repeatedly hurts you and slaps a Band-Aids on your wound and calls it love. Be with someone who changes and improves themselves to love and protect you. ~ Mandy Annette
Today, upon entering the mess hall, Eman accidentally ran into Hamda, Farhan's sister. All of their friends were walking, talking, eating, and enjoying the day with each other. It was at this time that Hamda shared Farhan's engagement with zarlish.
Feeling she had misheard what had been said. Eman sat there for an unknown amount of time trying to understand as she zoned out.
"Eman..." She heard someone said, breaking her from her trance. When she turned, she saw Yamna standing there.
"What are you thinking about? You're so tense," Yamna asked.
Eman clarified, " It was nothing, I was just drinking my coffee."
Yamna commented, "Your coffee has become cold though."
Drinking what was left in one sip, Eman excused herself saying, she wanted to be alone for a while.
Eman went to her room, everything had changed in the last few hours. She was happy, genuinely happy. But then it all went away after hearing one bite of information. She didn't sleep at all that night.
When morning came, she came down for breakfast with her friends, but there was no need for anything. She had confirmed about the engagement even though she knew it was true. It made her want to escape, to go anywhere but here, but nothing was so simple.

When Prof. Azhar started his lecture, Eman only managed to write down the date and topic on her paper. His words describing inertia faded to the background. But, Like always, she could only focus on his eyes. Each time she did, she tried to listen to his lecture attentively, but her mind was a blur. It was happening in her life for the first time, while looking at him, she reached somewhere else. But where? Seeing image after image rolling across her vision leaving her speechless.
"Eman aren't you going with us?" Yamna touched her shoulder and asked.
Coming back to reality at her touch, she realized the class was empty and only Yamna was sitting next to her. With a glance at her watch, she realized how late it was.
"Where is Prof. Azhar?" Unintentionally words came out from Eman's mouth.
Yamna answered, "Class is finished and he left."
"Class is finished?" Eman again questioned?
"Yes", Yamna responds.
Rubbing her eyes, she realized she couldn't remember anything about the lecture except the topic name.
"Are you upset? "Yamna asked.
"Why you had not forgotten all this?" Yamna added.
"No, I'm okay, let's go," Eman replied.

The whole family was present at the dining room table this night. Once everyone was seated, they began talking about Eman, who had come home for this weekend.
"Baba, you noticed the seriousness in Eman's behaviour," Her sister Hamna said in her teasing style.
" Yes, my daughter, I notice it a few months before," By focusing on her daughter's face he answered.
And then he asked, "Is there any problem, Eman? "
Eman refused as usual and said, " Not everyone is as lazy as Hamna. I am busy with my studies and don't have time for anything else. I want to become a doctor. I'm not taking these classes for fun."
"It seems like forever since my princess smiled," her mother commented.
Hamna resumes her teasing, " Besides health what else is a doctor responsible for? Just think about the way doctors handle their patients these days. The main reason for the increasing death rate is..."
Eman cut her in mid-sentence by accepting her defeat, "Baba stop her."
Baba ( by controlling his smile ) stopped her from her speech.
