This chapter is specially dedicated to my dearie ladyx76    and to my little sister who had been waiting for this chapter from so long  riyyeahh  ❤

It took her a few seconds to register that the wall behind them had literally exploded. One second she and Shivaay were talking and the next second they were hurled through the air by the force of a terrific blast.

They crashed into a nearby wall that was still standing with the bed raining down in splinters around them.

She hadn’t even figured out what was going on when the first gunshot exploded through the night.

“Down!” Apparently Shivaay was faster than her in figuring out the situation, he threw himself on top of her squashing the air out of her.

“ omph!”

“ they are firing!!”

She opened her mouth to tell him that she had noticed but she got a mouth full of splinters and chocked.

The door crashed open and the Sardar loomed in the doorway, his sabre in one hand and a gun in the other “this way sahib” he roared over the noises, Shivaay leapt up yanking Anika up with him and followed the Sardar out.

Men’s cries and gun shots tore through the air but Anika was too scared to look back. They made a sharp turn and Shivaay pulled her into room, the door slamming shut behind them locking out the blasts and shouts. Anika slummed into a chair, ignoring the way her back was throbbing in pain.

“Are you alright sahib?” the Sardar panted.

“Watha hell happened!” Shivaay hissed “ how did they even find us! I thought we were perfectly safe!”

“I don’t know sahib” Sardar looked at him worriedly “ Yousif is a big goon. Has many connections….and-"

The door banged open and both Shivaay and the Sardar drew out their guns ready to shoot the intruder’s head off. A lanky looking man who was covered in soot, and who looked like he would pass out any second stood frozen at the door “ e-effendi?”

“ he is one of my men” the Sardar sighed lowering his weapon, he walked up to him and both of them spoke in hushed whispers before the Sardar turned to them with a grave look “ we have been surrounded sahib..and..”

“ and what!?”

“ they have hostages”

Suddenly a loud voice boomed into the room, Anika jumped startled and quickly walked to Shivaay’s side, gripping his arm.

“ Shivaay.Singh.Oberio” an all too familiar voice crackled through a mic. Anika gripped his arm tighter as Yousef’s voice bought back tormenting memories of that night.

“ You took my little brother away from me and you thought I would let you leave?!”  he chuckled, a low dangerous sound that twisted Anika's gut uneasily.

Behind his voice they could hear sobs and men’s shouts and ladies scream. “ do you want me to send one body after the other to you or will you come down and surrender all by yourself?” Yousef continued “ you have five minutes to decide or am gonna decide for you” and the mic went dead.

A sickening silence settled like dread in the room.

“how many men do you have left?” Shivaay was the first one to break the silence.

“ nine sahib”

He walked up to him and placing his hands on his giant shoulders “ thank you for your services…just do me one last one”

Anika watched their exchange confused, the Sardar folded his hands into a namstey and bowed his head “ consider it done sahib”

Shivaay gave him a small nod and turned towards Anika “ it’s time to go Anika”

Her forehead creased “ what about the hostages? If we leave, Yousef will definitely kill them”

There was no flicker of emotion on his face when he said “ I never said both of us were going to leave”

It didn’t sink in at first. She continued to stare at him blankly as the words clicked into place in her head like a puzzle.

She couldn’t say anything as she watched him murmur something to the Sardar and then he turned to catch her hand, leading her out of the room.

She snapped just as they reached the door “ no” the word was softer than her actions as she snatched her hand from his grip, her throat suddenly dry.
