Magnus walked toward the New York Institute. It would be his first time in their for years.

They were very painful years. At first, he was broken. Gorged on any food he could find. Not being his bright and sparkling self. Ever since his break up with Alec, he felt like another half of him died.

He remembered when he went to the Institute, before the Lightwoods had to leave for Idris. Seeing Alec, paler then a ghost, skinnier even behind his saggy sweaters, and his blue eyes, lost of any spark. How he just kissed him without thinking. Then being in Edom, forced to be weakened by his father, only to summon him.

He almost gave away his immortality. Only for Alec to be safe. Magnus would always do that. Risking his life to save Alec. He would have been dead, if Simon hasn't gave away his vampirism. Despite being saved, Magnus still felt, lost.

His latest memory of Alec, was after the war. Saying thank you to Jace, Isabelle, and Clary. He wanted to say thank you to Alec, but he saw the pain in his eyes. Like he knew that if Magnus said a simple congrats, Alec would think it would be an invitation to get back together, so Magnus just left. He felt as the knife Amatis hit him with, actually hit the heart.

Now, he would probably see him again. Seventeen years later.

I wonder if he finally moved on? Does he have his own family? A child? Husband? Boyfriend? At least of friend with benefits.

Magnus hated asking these questions, but knew that he broke up with him. It was his idiotic choice. He didn't want to see Alec with another man, but he had already given it up.

The Institute looked the same it did seventeen years ago. Dark, lite by Witchlight torches, and low on decor. Magnus walked inside, quickly welcome by a girl who looked about fifteen. Her hair was red and curly. Magnus would have mistaken her as Clary, if not Jace's eyes staring at him.

"Hello warlock Bane. I'm Alexandra Herondale." She stuck her hand out, and Magnus accepted it. "Sorry if we haven't informed you of what happened, but me and my brother will be more then happier to fill you in." Magnus nodded, as a twelve year old boy come up, and gave Magnus a stern look with his green eyes. Alexandra ruffled his golden hair, making him slap her hand away.

"I'm William. Don't talk to me." He walked down the hall, Alexandra and Magnus followed.

"What's Blondie Junior's problem?" Asked Magnus, knowing that Jace probably told them bad stuff about him.

"He has a thing against Downworlders," she replied. "Thinks them untrustworthy for some reason"

"Your father talked shit about me, ever since you can remember, ever since I broke up with your uncle, hasn't he?" Alexandra just nodded. "I get it. So what do you need me for?" Magnus wanted to change the subject quickly.

"There has been an ancient in Brooklyn, were my uncle, Simon has been stabbed with a demon's venom." Magnus sighed. Seventeen years of being a Shadowhunter and trained by the Lightwoods still hadn't made him good enough to avoid venom.

They walked up the steps, apparently the lift broke. When they reached the infirmary, Magnus saw Isabelle holding a little girl, around eleven. Her hair was jet black, like Isabelle's, and in her arms was a three year old boy, who had Simons hair.

"Hello Isabelle," said Magnus, as he already started to scan Simon's body to where the venom was strongest.

"It's been a long time Magnus," she replied with anger. She looked down at the children. "Can you two go find Uncle Alec." The eleven year old girl nodded, walking with the toddler, who was trotting beside her. Once they were left alone, Magnus located the venom in his right leg. He removed the blanket that covered him, and saw that Simon's leg was black and puffy, with a green oozing material coming out of where Magnus assumed the tail, claws, or teeth went.
