Alec slammed the door to the Institute with his foot, a cardboard box full of his items that he had at Magnus's. It seemed strange that only an hour ago, Alec had the most amazing man in the world as his boyfriend. That someone who would have skipped Alec if they had to pick from a crowd, saw him as the most special person in the world. But, now Alec was alone.
He went to the lift were Church would usually wait, but the cat wasn't there. Alec thought of how Magnus appeared in the subway, shocked that Camille was right. How he ended their relationship just because he wouldn't listen to him. Alec thought about Magnus the entire time as he left the lift, and walked toward his old room.
"Acu cinta kamu," said Alec, remembering the Indonesian words that Alec would always remember as he opened the door to his room. Isabelle come from her room with a look of confusion on her face.
"Alec, why are you here? Shouldn't you be at Magnus's while he heals?" Alec winced at the mention of Magnus.
"He doesn't want to see us. Mainly me," said Alec, trying to hold his tears back. Isabelle just stared at him.
"Nice try Alec," she said finally after a few minutes of silence. "But I can tell when your lying. You look like you've been struck in the heart whenever you do." She laughed as she walked down the hall toward the lift. Alec couldn't help but let the tears fall down his cheeks.
"Alec what's wrong?" Asked a rough voice. Alec looked up and saw his father standing with a piece of paper in his hands. His hair was damp, and his beard was no more, making him look younger. He kind of looked like Alec.
"Me and Magnus broke up," blurted Alec, feeling more tears fall down his face. Robert stood and changed his line of vision from Alec, to the piece of paper.
"Alec," Robert said, stretching his hand out so the paper could easily be in reach. "Read the note."
Alec grabbed the note, and read the eloquent lettering.
Dear Robert Lightwood of the New York City Institute,
We are happily to announce, that you have been chosen to become the Inquisitor of the Concil. And as your first act, you must kick your eldest son out of the New York City Institute and others around the globe. Take away his Shadowhunting belongings; including Witchlight, Stele, and Gear . It will be hard for you, but I have done the same with my daughter. Be careful of any magical detections from the High Warlock. Magnus Bane is unstable from the reports we have gotten in the past years.
Congrats on becoming the Inquisitor, and good luck.
~Consul Jia Penhallow.
Alec stared at the writing.
"I'm sorry Alec, but I need your positions," Robert said with what Alec thought was happiness. Alec held back more tears, as he reached for his Witchlight and Stele. The Witchlight glowed pale white as he dropped it in the palm of Robert's hand. He remembered how the color was red when Magnus picked it up in the subway, and the burst of colors as it was sandwiched between them.
"Where will I go?" Asked Alec in a whisper, loud enough for Robert to hear.
"The Clave also sent you some money to start off in the mundane world," he answered. "You will no longer be able to hunt demons, or enter Idris. If I had the chose, I would not do this." Alec just nodded, felling as if Raziel hated him. Jace was kidnapped and forced into being a demonic parabatai to Sebastian, Magnus broke up with him because he believed his ex-girlfriend instead of his boyfriend, then his sister thought it was a joke and laughed at the break up, and now he was being kicked out of the world he almost died for.
