Chapter 5

Song: Wild Love By Tidal Tears

***********************************************************************************************

Sophie's Pov.

I woke up this morning to the sound of my mother vacuuming. She opens my door to make sure to not miss any rooms and I groan out loud.

"Mom, couldn't you have at least waited to do that until it was at least 5:00 a.m?" I ask while looking at my phone. Today being that it was a Wednesday, despite having to go to school early in the morning, that didn't mean that I didn't need every minute of sleep that I could get. Today I had dance rehearsal straight after school. So I would need to hurry if I wanted to arrive "on time" which meant early.

"No, I need this house to be looking in tip-top shape. Since it's the beginning of August, I wanted to invite our neighbors over for a get-together. I'm thinking about making some adorable watermelon popsicles and then we can make a cheesy potato casserole. How does that sound?" She asks me and I nod my head just to get her to leave.

"Great! Now get ready for school. I'm sure that your friends are waiting for you." My mom urges me and I make a motion to get out of bed and get dressed. Once she leaves seeing that I was getting ready, I decided to plop back into bed and go back to sleep.

I wake up 20 minutes later to get ready. My mom thought that it took me hours to get ready. While I did like to look good for school, I wasn't that slow of a dresser. I put on a nice cream colored dress and pair it with a mauve pink leathered jacket and some cute cream-colored pumps. I curled my hair and applied a neutral makeup look. The gold eyeshadow made my lavender eyes stand out even more.

I make my way downstairs and snatch my keys off of the kitchen tabletop.  Making my way over to Lacey's house I see Cole and Dylan's cars parked out front.

That could never be good.

I enter the house to hear people arguing and things being thrown.

"If you like her so much then why don't you just break up with me then, huh?!" I hear Mali's voice shouting. I see Dylan rolling his eyes.

"You're crazy. Why would I ever like someone as weak as Lacey? She can never even stand up for herself." He states making me want to kick him in the balls.

"That's my point exactly! You're always babying her like she's your responsibility. You spend more time with her than you do your own girlfriend and I'm sick of it!"

"Well then maybe we should take a break!" Dylan snaps at her.

I make my way upstairs slowly. I loved me a good drama, but their drama just got to be pretty old. Once I'm upstairs, I push open Lacey's door to find her and Megan plopped onto her bed.

"Hey Lacey, are you aware of the arguing going on downstairs?" I ask her.

"Yeah, I don't know what they're saying though and I really don't care to find out. I've learned to block them out at least half the time." She says with a slight shrug to the shoulders.

"Well just in case you did want to know-" I urge and she cuts me off with a glare.

"No thank you." I let out a sigh and let the subject drop. I swear I felt like I was trying to play matchmaker, but this poor girl just didn't want to face the truth.
