Chapter 20

Song: Chainsmoking by Jacob Banks

***********************************************************************************************Sophie's Pov.

"Please don't get me expelled!" I almost sobbed. Meanwhile, Mr. Conrad is just munching on his waffles looking highly entertained.

"Why would I get you expelled?" He asks.

"Because I acted highly inappropriate and I should have never texted you in the first place!" I throw my hands into the air. He makes his way over to sit on one of the kitchen bar stools.

"Calm down Sophie. I'm not going to expel you. There's been plenty of girls who have done far worst then you." I raise an eyebrow at him in question.

"And who was that?" I ask before I can stop myself. He smirks at me but doesn't say much else.

"I feel so bad for Lacey. We were all supposed to go spend the night together at Megan's." I rub at my temples. Mr. Conrad stands up and goes to feel a glass of water up and hands me an Advil.

"Thanks," I mutter before swallowing the pill followed by gulps of water.

"Well, lesson learned then." He says and takes both of our plates to the sink.

"Thanks teach." We find ourselves staring at one another before he asks me,

"How are you doing?" I knew that he wasn't talking about the hangover, but that he meant my personal eating habit issues.

"I went out to do some therapeutic shopping and it helped a little. I call myself trying to have a fun time at a party a good idea, but instead, it didn't end so good." I say.

"As a teacher, I am disappointed in your decisions, but on a more personal note, I can tell that you're hurting and trying to find a way to deal with that." He observes.

"Why did you take me to the park?" I find myself asking.

"I already told you why." He says and I shake my head.

"Somehow, I feel like there's more to that answer." I don't know what spirit animal was inside of me to make me so bold, but I was rolling with it.

"I don't think that this is the perfect time for th-" I cut him off.

"Why not?" I press on. The amused look on his face weakens and he lets out a sigh.

"I don't really have a good answer to that." He simply puts it. I find myself starting to move closer towards him. This was either gonna finally put all of the confusion to rest or make things worst.

I hoover closer to him making sure not to touch him. Leaning in so that my face was on the same level as his, I whisper to him,

"You should really take me home." And with that, I pull away from him. I can see his adam's apple bob as he swallows before shaking his head.

"Yeah...I should do that." He says in a raspier voice than before. I make my way back upstairs to go and grab my dress. As I start to unbutton the dress shirt, I can feel him come up from behind me.

I turn around slowly to see him looking down at me and his usual grey eyes are now a stormier color.

"I'm not going to regret this." He says and the next thing that I knew, his lips were on mine.

I let out a gasp of surprise before gaining my balance.

Yup, I guess the confusion was gone.
