Sophie's Pov.
"Okay, all we have to do now is ask five dancers. Each of them has to be from different dance companies." I say to Derrick. He looks at me with a smirk before nodding.
"Yeah, and do you have anyone in mind to seek first?" He asks me. I nod my head and walk over to the cafeteria table that I knew consisted of dancers. In high school, there was always cliches, especially in the cafeteria.
"Hi sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if any of you who are dancers specifically in ballet dance companies, would be willing to be interviewed for a project that I'm doing?" I explain to them and thankfully I get three girls who are willing to be interviewed. I lead them over to a quiet hallway. Some teachers that passed us questioned why we were in the hallway alone, but other than that no one else disturbed us.
"Alright, so I will ask you each around 5 simple questions to answer shortly. Here's a sheet of the questions to prepare yourselves." I hand over the sheet for them to skim over. Once they say that they're ready to shoot, Derrick places the camera onto a pod stand and turns on the record button once I give him the say so.
"Hi my name is Savanah and I am apart of the Rock dance company." The first girl introduces herself.
"How would describe your dance company?" I ask her my first question. She takes a moment before responding.
"I would say that my company is very intense, but at the same time, it's very rewarding. When hard work pays off, it feels so liberating to be able to watch a video of our performance and to see how great it all turned out." I see some of the other girls nodding their heads in agreement towards the side, out of the shot. I smile to myself before asking the second question.
"How did you get involved with dance?" I ask and the girl smiles with energy.
"Well ever since I was little, I always wore a tutu around the house. My mom saw how energetic I was and decided to enroll me in dance classes. After that, I never feel out of that passion for dance. It stuck with me ever since and I love it so much." She says. I finish up asking the first girl all of the questions and switch to another girl.
"How would you describe the dance community as a whole?" I ask her.
"I will be honest, sometimes the dance community can be brutal. There's this need for perfection and you want to strive to be your best, but at the same time, everyone besides you wants to be the best as well. Everyone is really good around you so the competition within the dance community is intense." She states honestly and I can definitely agree with that statement.
"What makes dancing a passion of yours?" I ask the last girl and she puts on her thinking face.
"Dancing is a passion to me because it's very freeing. I can express my emotions through dance and tell my story. Without dance, I would feel like something was missing." She nods her head at the end and I motion for Derrick to turn off the camera.
"Thank you, girls, for your time. This will only be shown to my teacher so don't worry about it being anywhere else." They nod and thank me for the opportunity. I turn towards Derrick and he gives me a bright smile.
"That was great. Now we just need to get two more girls." I nod my head and let out a sigh.
"Let's do this."
