Sophie's Pov.

I enter the studio and walk over to the speaker system. Tieing my ballet laces up I make sure to do my daily stretches. At 3 a.m in the morning, I usually came to the studio to get extra rehearsal time in before school started on the days that I didn't have a ballet class. Standing up from the stretches, I turn on the music to play Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven and began my routine.

I start off by doing 6 pirouettes followed by a plie. Then I make my way across the floor en pointe making sure to keep every muscle sucked in tightly. I keep my chin lifted and go down in plie once reaching the middle of the dance floor.

I move into the grande adage and end with a series of grande Jete. I repeat these motions until my lungs fill up and I'm gasping for breath. I lean against one of the bars handles to catch my breath.

"Okay. again." I mutter to myself and then I go through a series of pirouettes across the floor. I can feel my feet burning, but I ignored them as I keep going. I needed to make sure that my movements were so fluid that you couldn't see where one movement ended and the next started. For this particular piece that we were doing which was the Nutcracker and being that I was the main character Clara, I had to make sure that I not only had every move down but that I was able to tell the story well. The stress placed on my shoulders at times was difficult, but it was also a huge honor to play such a role.

I was going to have to be perfect.

I end my routine with a few stretches before I go into the start of the beginning act of the Nutcracker. In this first scene, I receive the Nutcracker and it's Christmas Eve. It's a very lively opening. Sometimes I felt that the only reason that I was cast as Clara was simply that I was short enough to play a child. But Instructor Daniels says it's because of my dancing abilities and character portrayal of her.

Once I finish running through Act 1, I check the time to see that it was time for me to pack up and head to school. I needed to grab a snack before going so I hurried and grabbed my rehearsal bag and left the studio in my dance attire. I took the bobby pins out and let my hair down as I walked to the Cafe. Once I enter the cafe I debate whether or not I should turn around and skip breakfast altogether.

No other than my Honors English teacher, Mr. Conrad, was sitting right at the same table as he had the last time I was here. I decided to just ignore him and walked up to the counter to greet Ben.
