Chapter 13
Song: Tell Me It's Real By Seafret

Sophie's Pov.
After my usual ballet rehearsal today, I was beginning to get more and more aggravated. Kayla kept on making comments on how I wasn't going to heal in time and that she should just have my role completely. Of course, Instructor Daniels shot her down real quick with words along the lines of 'Kalya please shut up and you will not have her role, period.' That always made me cheer up a bit.
The good news was that at least I was now able to stop using crutches to walk everywhere. Or more like hobble around everywhere. It was a slight pressure, but my pain tolerance was high so it didn't bother me too much. I had asked Derek to be my ride to school today simply because I was being petty towards Megan and Lacey.
I can't believe that they actually think that Mr. Conrad could ever have a crush on me.
That would be highly unbelievable. I felt like now-in-days people always thought that student-teacher relationships would be so hot, but in reality, those things just hardly happened in real life and if they did, then it probably ended with that said teacher going to jail.
I would have to accept Megan and Lacey's little mission though because it didn't look like they were backing down anytime soon.
"Hey did you want to stop off at the cafe before we headed off to school? Because I kind of wanted a chocolate donut." Derek gives me the puppy dog eyes. Now that things were back to normal with Derek and I it's as if nothing ever happened between us.
Good. Because I hadn't really told Megan or Lacey about Derek and I. Maybe that was for the best.
"Uh... yeah, sure." I hesitate. I really didn't want to take any chances on running into Mr. Conrad.
"Cool." We link arms and make our way to the cafe. I had already changed out of my dance clothes at the studio's bathroom. Now I had on some high waisted jeans paired with a cream colors blouse and paired with a heart-shaped necklace. I had also decided to wear some black high heeled boots. My hair was down from the previous tight bun.
When we walk into the cafe my heart almost comes up from my throat. Okay, that was a little too graphic, but I seriously felt like I was about to throw up.
"What's wrong?" Derek asks me and then his eyes dart to Mr. Conrad's and he waves at him.
Waves at him!
Mr. Conrad gives us both a strained smile and waves back slowly.
"Hey look, it's out teacher. Let's go say hi." I pull on his arm and give him a death glare.
"No that's okay. I'm just gonna order." I walk up to Ben with a rigid smile.
"Hey, Ben." I give him my order. Ben leans into me and eyes Derek.
"So... is that your boyfriend?" Ben gives me a solid wink and I involuntarily blush.
"No, he's one of my closer friends." I glance over my shoulder to see Derek trying to make conversation with Mr. Conrad. I could tell that Mr. Conrad looked slightly uncomfortable.
"Derek, were you going to order or what?" I ask him and he gives me a confused look.
"Yeah, I was just being polite, jeez women," Derek mutters before giving Ben his order.
I try to avoid eye contact with Mr. Conrad, but I can practically feel his gaze burning a hole through the back of me.
Once Ben gives me my order and Derek's, I take Derek's hand and rush him out of the cafe.
