Chapter 35

Song: Be Your Love by Bishop Briggs

***********************************************************************************************Sophie's Pov.

~3 months later~

I tie my hair up into a tight bun and lean down to grab my dance bag. Walking down the stairs I see Eli holding Cara in his arms. When he sees me, he smiles and Cara lets out a bubbly laugh.

"Look Cara, mommy is going off to her first day of classes." He says and I walk over to give Cara a kiss on the forehead. She had her dad's grey eyes and my blonde hair.

She reaches over to try to grab my chin and I rub noses with her making her laugh again.

"Alright. The nanny should be here in 10 minutes. Tell me how your first day of work went." I say to him and give him a peck on the lips. Today was not only my first day at Julliard, but it was his working at Janes Louis High School that wasn't too far from where we were living right now.

"Have an amazing day." He says to me with a wink to which I return before leaving.

Despite the nerves in my stomach, I was pretty excited to start class. Dancing was a lifelong career dream of mine and I couldn't wait to see what the future held for me.

Having to say goodbye to all of my friends except Derek because he was currently going to NYU, was hard. Megan, Lacey and I had cried for a good two hours. Still, we all knew that we could always meet up over the summer and for winter breaks, but it was still difficult not being able to see them in person every day.

However, we still called and face-timed each other as much as possible. Lacey had gotten into Boston University and she was majoring in English much to Eli's happiness.

He was such a dork at times.

And Megan had decided to major in Biotech at the University of Wisconsin.

As I pull into the parking lot, I let out a breath of air and relax my shoulders.

"You can do this." I say to myself before walking in the building. Once I walk into the dance studio, I'm meet by all types of different dancers. Two girls go up to me and smile brightly.

"Hi I'm Brianna and this is Kimbra. We're just going around and introducing ourselves to all the new people. We're in year two so if you have any questions about what the instructor is like, feel free to ask us." I thank the two of them and get myself settled into the class. Placing my bag into one of the lockers, I take a seat and join a few other girls who seemed new as well.

"Hey, I'm Sasha." One of the girls moves over so that I can make myself more comfortable in their little circle.

"I'm Sophie," I say and some of them let out a squeal.

"Wait, are you Sophie Lemmings?!" Sasha says with contained excitement and I nod my head slowly.

"Yeah, that's me." I say in slight confusion.

"We saw your performance in the Nutcracker and in the Royal Ballet. You were like... on fire!" A guy with brown hair and blue eyes says to me and I smile at them. I didn't know that I was that well known already.

"The Swan Lake production is coming up and you would do so well as Odette!" One girl says while smiling brightly.

"Really?" I ask them. I was shocked that they were so supportive. I guess I had been in a hostile environment for so long, that I didn't know what fully supportive classmates looked like.

"Yeah. You have so much power in the way that you dance. Of course, it's up to the instructor at auditions, but we wouldn't be surprised if you landed that role. Oh and I'm Nathan." The guys comes around to shake my hand.

"Okay class! Hello my name is Audrey Grace and I will be your dance Instructor for this semester in this class. I am looking forward to seeing all of your talents as I have already saw a few of your performances in person or on video." She starts off. She was about in her early thirties and had dark blonde hair with green eyes.

"Now, I want us all to get into a bigger circle to introduce  ourselves. You will be working so closely with one another that it's crucial to have a good of a relationship with one another as possible." We move into a larger circle and she claps her hands together.

"Okay, Who would like to volunteer to go first?" She asks and at first no one raises their hand. So I shrug my shoulders and raise my hand first.

"Yes, thank you for being so bold." She smiles at me. I stand up and clear my throat.

"Hello, my name is Sophie Lemmings and..." I do my introduction and a few people hoot while others clap. I smiled at them because I finally felt like I was welcomed.

Over the course of my life with dance had been filled with people who were ingenuine, rude, and highly judgemental. These people here seemed to understand that while there might have been high competition, it didn't mean that we still couldn't be civilized and humane people.

So as everyone continues to introduce themselves, I find a sense of happiness within the dance community that I hadn't felt in a while.

And that's all that I could ever ask for.
