A week had passed and I was on a weird rollercoaster ride of emotions. As much as I had thought that things would get easier for me when it came to Eli and I's private relationship, I was dead wrong.
After our kiss we shared, things started to progress and before I knew it, we were talking on a daily basis. We would make jokes and flirty comments, but when it came to being in class, we remained our usual civilized self. Of course with the usual witty banter here and there.
There were times when a certain girl in the class or even a certain teacher would go up to him to shamelessly flirt. It did get to me after a certain point, but I knew that he wasn't truly interested in anyone except for me.
My rehearsals for the show were getting better and better and soon, I found myself being able to remember the whole show by memory. Still, I felt nervous for the actual performance. There was only one week left and I was torturously counting down the moments. My nerves were on a high because of it.
Today was a very special day because it was Eli and I's first official date. Although Eli liked to joke that we started our dates at the cafe a long time ago. Still, I was half nervous and excited for the date.
I had chosen to wear a nice red medium-length flowy dress with slits on the sides. I paired it with a black strapped heel. I chose to also wear my hair down and to keep it straight with its natural waves.
I walked downstairs to see my mom on the phone. Dad was currently at work.
"Hold on April, I'm gonna have to call you back. Okay bye." She hangs up the phone and one hand comes to her mouth.
"You look absolutely stunning, Hun. Where are you going looking so dolled up like that?" She asks me. Alright, time to channel my inner actress.
"I'm going out with some friends. We decided to try out this new restaurant that Carmen had found." I make up. I had already called Carmen and she was willing to play along if my mom tried to call her house. Of course, since Carmen's mother is dope like that, she agreed herself to cover for me.
"Oh okay. Well, I hope that you have a good time." She beams at me and I smile back. It didn't feel too good lying to her, but I knew that if I told her the truth now, she would have a heart attack.
I make my way outside to my car. I knew better than to have Eli drive to my house to pick me up. So we were meeting up at the restaurant called Milianio's Italiano.
When I finally pull into the restaurant, I walk in and give the hostess my name.
"Oh, he's already waiting for you. Right this way miss." She leads me further into the back where hardly anyone was sitting. When we get to the very last booth I see a smiling Eli come into view.
"Hi." I breathe out. He takes in my appearance a leans in to give me a slow welcoming kiss. When he pulls away slightly with our noses almost touching, he says,
"You look extremely beautiful. Are you trying to put me in an early grave?" He jokes and I let out a laugh.
"Well considering the way you look, I was thinking the same thing." I joke back. We both read our menus. I see that each meal was on the pricey range.
