Taehyung's P.O.V.
I dragged myself to my dorm, exhausted after an intense basketball game with my friends. We were all a part of the basketball varsity team of our college, and we enjoyed playing more than anything in this whole world. As I walked up the stairs of the dormitory with Namjoon, he decided to break the silence.
"So?" he asked. "Did you enjoy today's game?"
"Yeah", I approved. "It was a good one."
"The cheerleaders are so hot", he stated as if it was completely normal and not awkward. "Especially that Soyeon girl. Ahh, so pretty. Sometimes distracting - like, remember when the ball hit me right on top of my head cause I was staring at Minnie's smile and you all were so mad at me for losing the final point?! Damn, what a beautiful smile though. Don't you think?"
"Well, yeah, the cheerleaders are cute, but...you know I..."
"Come on, man. I told you to get Lisa off your mind! She's head over heels with Jungkook."
"I know..."
I felt a sudden feeling of emptiness in my stomach. I realized how Namjoon was right; Lisa really was head over heels with Jungkook. I was always there for her, including when she cried over Jungkook treating her like true trash. I was her shoulder to cry on, and still, she did not love me - she preferred the most ignorant jerk ever, just because he was "hot". Only thinking about her loving words towards Jungkook when she didn't even know the real him, was giving me chills all over my body and irritating the hell out of me. Jungkook lied to her, used her, and treated her like the last human being he'd like to be with, but her mind probably never even crossed the thought of breaking up with him. Even so, she acted like he was the love of her life, but he didn't even act like she was his girlfriend - he treated her like every other girl he knew. I started resenting Jungkook, not only because I was jealous of him for owning such a beautiful thing like Lisa, but also because he didn't realize what a beautiful person he had in front of him while he was flirting with tens of other sluts. I screeched my teeth, clenched my fists and squinted in anger. What a fucking jerk, he doesn't deserve Lisa!
"But I think...I mean, I hope...she has little feelings for me, too. Deep inside. She just doesn't realize yet."
Hah, stop lying to yourself, Tae. It's not gonna work.
"That could be possible", Namjoon said, though a bit unconvinced. "But, I don't think so. She'd break up with Jungkook if she did."
"No, she wouldn't", I protested. "She loves him still. But she has little, little feelings for me too, that she doesn't see yet. Get it?"
"Not really, but okay, I'll let it pass. Anyways, what makes you little boy in love think that she has feelings for you? What are the signs?"
"Well...uh..."
I squinted again, trying to think of signs, but I couldn't find any.
"Anything she ever said to you, or anything she says significantly often?" he asked, insistingly.
"Well...she tells me that I'm her best guy friend, that I always make her laugh in her hardest moments and...that I'm like a brother to her", I said, sighing and scratching my nape.
"Oh, man", Namjoon said, his eyes widening in a weird way. "Welcome to the friend-zone."
He smiled uncomfortably, waved me goodbye, and unlocked the door to his dorm, going inside and not looking back once. Why is he acting so weird? I thought. He seems...in a way...happy that Lisa doesn't have the same feelings for me that I have for her. What if he also likes her? What if he wants to date her instead of me, and break my heart? Nah, I don't think so. He's too stuck up on that Soyeon girl from the cheerleading team, and plus, he's a good friend. He would never let us fight over a girl.
